The salesperson I dealt with back in back in April 2023, verbally quoted me $20,500 for my 2018 mint condition Crosstrek trade in towards a new 2023 Outback. We came up with some rough numbers as to what amount would be needed to purchase the Outback. I asked about whether I could get the Outback at dealer invoice cost (like I have gotten before at other Subaru dealers). He said yes. Anyway, when it came to the actual paperwork, the trade in was now $18,500 (not $20,500) the cost of the Outback was the MSRP not the invoice price, plus there was $1500 in dealer prep and administration fees, and if that wasn't enough there was another $1100 added on for some sort of paint protection (that I researched on that stated it was a worthless product). The salesperson made no effort to improve the sale in my favor.
