Joe, At Jack Maxton Chevrolet we have process in place to inspect a vehicle, thoroughly, before selling it. With that being said, when selling a vehicle with high miles and ‘as-is’ the customer has an option to purchase an extended warranty to cover any unforeseen service issues that vehicle may have in the future. Thank you for your response Jack Maxton Team. One thing that should be noted since you indicate that you "have a process in place to inspect a vehicle, thoroughly, before selling it". The mechanic who examined this vehicle after it broke down after 82 days conveyed to me that if a thorough diagnostic inspection by a competent technician was done on this engine 82 days ago it would have revealed the major engine issues the vehicle has. So therefore, if you did complete the thorough inspection ,as you indicate, it would lend to believe that the engine issues were simply not disclosed to me during the transaction. You sold me an $8000 vehicle that had major engine issues and it lasted 82 days, a fact is a fact. In response to you comment about letting your service department give me a second opinion, I have a better solution. How about I bring the vehicle to you and you give me $6000 trade value towards another vehicle on your lot that doesn't have major engine issues? You sold it to me for $8000 and I am giving it back for $6000 after 3 months, this seems fair to me. Joe

UPDATE: Just a quick follow up on this review to let everyone know that, as predicted, the Jack Maxton Team did absolutely nothing to try and make this right. I spent $8000 on this "thoroughly inspected" vehicle and after 82 days and 3,186 miles I sold it to a scrap yard for $400, as replacing the engine was going to cost almost as much as I paid for the vehicle. Thanks again Jack Maxton Team. So, I had to dip into my son's college savings to purchase him another vehicle (needless to say, from Byers and not Jack Maxton), which puts me a year behind in saving for his tuition. Solid, upstanding businesses are tough to find nowadays, and I certainly learned my lesson the hard way with Jack Maxton. There are plenty of new and used car dealerships around the Columbus area, but based on my experience I would obviously recommend avoiding Jack Maxton. History tends to repeat itself, and I certainly wouldn't want the same thing to happen to you.
