Expectations Not Met During a recent visit prior to a planned road trip, I brought my vehicle in for an oil change, tire rotation, and multi-point inspection (an advertise During a recent visit prior to a planned road trip, I brought my vehicle in for an oil change, tire rotation, and multi-point inspection (an advertised service). The service tech recommended replacing from and rear brakes, which I expected given the age and mileage on the vehicle. When checking out, I asked for a copy of the multi-point inspection. After searching for it, the service manager on duty informed me that they had not performed the multi-point inspection. I looked at the invoice, which states “Performed multi-point inspection.” The service manager tried to explain that this meant that it had been “requested.” I pointed out that the invoice stated “performed,” past tense meaning “I did it,” and not “perform,” meaning “do this.” After straightening out the fact that the statement on the invoice and what the service tech did not align, I got an apology. Of course, what I had wanted was the multi-point inspection. Disappointed. More
