For one, they will mark up their "MSRP" on used cars to make it look like you are getting a discount. The standard MSPR of one of the vehicle i was looking at was $24k. They had the MSRP listed as $29k....Then discounted it down $5k. As I was buying two cars at the same time, I figured I should get a discount, so I offered something with an $5k discount...cause why not...if they want to mark things up, it works both ways. I was then told they don't negotiate over the phone. Let me be clear here. I have 8 cars, 7 were purchased this year for my business and I negotiated them all over phone and even text message. I called Chandler, the sales guy, and asked whats up. He told me, "You don't offer us $5k under and get a counter." HAHA Really? That is EXACTLY how negotiation works and has forever.
I was willing to work with them to get to a win-win, but they wanted me to drive 45 minutes in rush hour from Longmont to take me seriously. To bad that isn't how business is done anymore. Find a better dealership...
