Service department sucks I took my brand new GTI in for it's first check up just to make sure everything was working properly, I brought the car in clean and when I got it bac I took my brand new GTI in for it's first check up just to make sure everything was working properly, I brought the car in clean and when I got it back it was filthy and there were also warning lights on the dashboard. So I took the car back and told them about the warning lights and the guy tells me that his technician may have left, I said I didn't care and that they should have never let the car leave in that condition anyways and that they needed to wash it again as well because it was ridiculous that someone looked at that and thought it was acceptable. I appreciate a free car wash but don't splash some water on it and then not bother drying it off. Then I got a flat tire on the way home one day so I went to the dealer to see if it was covered under my warranty, of course it wasn't, and of course they couldn't fix it and wanted me to pay $220 for a new one. I took it to Burt Brothers and they fixed it for free. Love my GTI but I'm not even remotely impressed with their service department, they're really dishonest and don't do a very good job. If I didn't have a service contract with them I'd go elsewhere. I should also mention that the finance guy I worked with neglected to mention the $40 in taxes I'd be paying each month which quite a bit of money when you're expecting your payment to be one thing and then it's not. Horrible.. Cheats... Scam artists... ripoff Horrible. Took my car to an independent repair shop and they were great. The Orem dealers' shop foreman got nasty with me so I took it to SouthTowne VW and they argued with me but I got a case number from VW headquarters before I spoke with them. So they take it in and look at it and tell me that in the last 30 miles I drove it (directly to them) I got another check engine light from what the first place told me. The original problem was the DPF and now they are telling me it's the DPF and a valve and they can't look at the DPF until they fix the valve for over $800. However, they also tell me that they have checked the DPF (after they said they couldn't and I have to fix the valve first) and it is completely clean cause they stuck their finger in there and it was clean. The DPF is impossible to get to without cutting the metal open and welding it back together. I argue and say no and want to know which valve it is and he tells me it's the "high" valve. Then I ask to talk to the guy working on my car and he said he'll have the shop foreman call me in 15 minutes. Three calls later and over 3 hours later, the shop foreman is still too busy to talk to me because "he's working on a brand new car that came in that is very important." More important than me I guess. So then I just want my car back and apparently it is on a test drive for THREE hours. They were trying to get the DPF to regenerate. The only reason to have it regenerate is if the DPF is full or clogged. EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID IT WAS COMPLETELY CLEAN. So I have to make my wife leave early from work so I can take her car to work cause they didn't know where my car was on this test drive. Then they call me on the way to work and tell me I can come pick it up. So I pick it up the next day and all the check engine, glow plug, and DPF lights are off and they can't tell me if it is fixed or not. "Drive it in a lower gear at a higher rate of speed for at least 20 miles and then over the next week and let us know what happens." So I take the car and leave and get home and turn the car off and the engine fan is still running. I call and he says that's normal and the cars do it all the time. Turns out that means I stopped the car while the DPF was regenerating. He has no idea what he is talking about. So I read the print out they gave me and it says: 2 check engine lights - both say excessive soot in the filter (DPF) NOTHING ABOUT A BAD VALVE They cleaned the LOW valve and now it's working. HE TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE IT FOR OVER $800 AND THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK FOR AN ADDITIONAL $112. PLUS HE TOLD ME IT WAS THE HIGH VALVE AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE LOW VALVE (THE HIGH VALVE IS MORE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE.) The original shop showed me pictures of the DPF and how impossible it is to get in there, let alone reach your finger in the tiny honeycomb type filter. I took it back to the original shop who had been helping me decipher all the lies I was being told and they said they have no idea what they did either. Multiple times they tell me lies and prove to me they have lied to me on the print out when I picked the car up. EITHER THEY ARE COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT OR STRAIGHT UP LIARS!!! DON'T TRUST THEM. More

First, fix the airbag sensor, $510, Then, I had a battery drainage. Sent to them the first time, they couldn't identify the problem. Second time, left there overnight, couldn't start. They finally found the problem ---radio drains the battery. Diagnosis fee: $112. All this OK. But next, for replacing the radio, $1300. I don't know where that came from. Just pull out the old radio, and them plug in the new radio. I would say it only takes 5 mins. Sent my car to the other shop, cost me less than $200! Bad, really bad service.! More

We agreed and ended up with a no package vw that they slapped an aftermarket radio and back-up cam in, drilled holes in the rear hatch, never cleaned, and punctured a seat in. After having them reconfigure it back to the (actual) base model stock, they cut us a menial offset check and we were stuck with it. We bought it in about Oct, got it maybe in Dec, blew it a kiss in March as a trade in..... Never again..... Nice vehicle, horrible sales experience.... gotta wonder where it's at now... More

($1000 for "key insurance") They offered him cash back, but simply added on the cash back to the total amount of the sale. This is the capitol of very cheesy car salesman! I understand buyer beware, but with these guys you really need to beware! They'll take advantage of you to whatever degree you let them. Know what the car you want to buy is worth, know what your trade-in need to beware! They'll take advantage of you to whatever degree you let them. Know what the car you want to buy is worth, know what your trade-in is worth and READ THE SALES AGREEMENT! Nothing they say matters unless it's written down on the actual documents. And, don't for a minute think that they won't take advantage of you in any and every way they can! All this is pretty obvious when dealing with a car dealership, but these guys are an extreme case! My 27 year old daughter bought a car from them and they used every trick in the book to rip her off. Bottom line, she paid $20,000 for a 2009 Jetta that was worth around $13,000. They told her the car was $12,000, but that's not what the paperwork said. She's learned a valuable, but expensive lesson. I don't have any problem with car dealers making a profit, but this is beyond the bounds of what a decent human being ought to do to someone. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE AT ALL! SUPER HIGH SALES PRESSURE AND BAD MECHANIC SERVICE!!! I absolutely would not buy another VW here or have it serviced here! Ben (our salesman) was extremely informative about the Tiguan we bought and the absolutely would not buy another VW here or have it serviced here! Ben (our salesman) was extremely informative about the Tiguan we bought and the vehicles abilities, more so than other brands of car dealers who just offer you a quick test drive. That being said is where anything worth going to this dealer stopped. Ben was low pressure during the test drive and the entire time. We had the "sleazy used car salesman" technique pulled, but not by Ben (who sat quietly across from us) as Josh the Sales Manager stuck a pretty high price in front of us for a new 2012 or 2013 model. My wife and I said no.. we didn't want that new of a vehicle or that kind of expense. We wanted to stay in the low $20's and all he wanted to know is the monthly payment he could stick us with for the next 7-8 yrs in stead of a 5 yr. loan (typical bad salesman technique). We said "no" again, and that we wanted to look at another brand of vehicle. He had our salesman running through the lot to try to find "something in our price range". Then he went back to see "how low he could go" with his advisors or who ever- and to my not so surprise said the sleazy used car guy "what can I do to get you into this car TONIGHT" as he brought out a used Tiguan I negotiated until I was blue in the face, finally got to a reasonable number. We arrived just after 8:30 and ended up leaving after 11:00 pm because of all the "negotiating". Another sleazy technique that bad dealers love to do to try to break a person on the price or get you to buy. We love the VW but I feel bad about not buying the Rav4 from the Toyota dealer we drove for the fact the sales guy was so nice or giving the business better VW dealer. They also said it was certified mechanically, took the car home and the very next day it leaked a puddle of oil about a 20" diameter circle on the driveway. We ran it back and they said "they must have over-tightened the oil bolt/washer causing it too leak. I had similar tales told to me by co-workers about service done that shorted out the electrical and over-filled the oil on a Passat and a Jetta when they went to Southtowne VW. They said it's worth the drive to go to the other VW shops downtown or elsewhere. More
