My Salesman Robert Kempf was great, the Dealership leaves a lot to be desired. Robert has always and I want to emphasize ALWAYS been very professional and very easy to deal with, and as a salesperson I would a lot to be desired. Robert has always and I want to emphasize ALWAYS been very professional and very easy to deal with, and as a salesperson I would highly recommend him, however the Sales manager, does not know how to properly deal with customers or handle situations with registering vehicles from out of State. This is my second lease from Key Chrysler of Portsmouth. My first lease went very smooth and seamless. This lease however has been nothing short of a nightmare. The dealership offers runner service to the Massachusetts RMV to register new vehicles, to which I took advantage of. Being a registered dealer with the state of Massachusetts, you would think that Key Chrysler would know the rules and regulations of the Mass RMV, and the regulations clearly state that in Massachusetts a person has 7 CALENDAR DAYS NOT 7 BUSINESS DAYS to register your new vehicle. Key Chrysler’s policy is that they have 7-10 Business days to register new vehicles for their clients this is according to the Sales Manager Hayden who I dealt with. So after several phone calls and texts, I had to park my vehicle after the 7th calendar day. On February 28, again after several attempts to get the dealership to get my vehicle registered, they took my paperwork and went to the Mass RMV to get my registration, however they did this contingent upon a good review for Robert, so essentially they held my registration over my head in order to get a good review. They told me that they were “Jumping thru hoops” to do this for me and deviating from the auto group policy. So this was on a Wednesday, on Friday two days later I still had not heard from the dealership about my registration, so I drove to the RMV location that my paperwork was brought to and the RMV said that there was a issue with the paperwork and couldn’t register the vehicle and told me that the dealership would have to send someone out to get the paperwork and figure out what the issue was. So my new vehicle sat in my driveway all weekend and into the following week. So after the paperwork was picked up it was determined that the issue was with transferring my Firefighter plates from one lease company to the other. So after several more phone calls from me, my insurance agent the dealership said they would hand deliver the paperwork to my insurance agent and let them deal with the two lease companies and this was on Tuesday March 5th. Well they didn’t hand deliver like they said, instead two days later and after another phone call to the sales manager they said they would overnight the paperwork to my insurance agent. The paperwork didn’t get received till Mon March 11. Then It took almost a week to get the two lease companies to sign a affidavit releasing the plates to the current lease company. My agent was finally able to get the vehicle registered the week of March 18th. So all in all my new vehicle sat idle in my driveway for over 3 weeks. Couldn’t legally drive it. So I was paying for a vehicle that I couldn’t drive. Perhaps there still would have been a short delay with resolving the issue with my plates but I had clearly asked the dealership if this was going to be a problem and they assured me that it wasn’t. Keeping my low number Firefighter plate was very important to me. So after my vehicle was registered, I called the dealership back and asked for a refund of the money that I had given them to send the runner to register my vehicle. I had to give my insurance agent the same amount of money to give the registry for fees and transfer of plates etc. I still have not received a refund to date. Needless to say I will NOT be back to their dealership ever again, to buy or have my van serviced. I want to emphasize that this issue had nothing to do with my Salesperson Robert Kempf. He has been nothing but professional and very kind to me. This has to do with upper management and how they deal with customer service. More
