That time I went to buy a truck So I decided to stop at this dealership as parents had good things to say about who they were working with. My initial contact with the dealership was So I decided to stop at this dealership as parents had good things to say about who they were working with. My initial contact with the dealership was to get a value for my then current truck as I wanted to trade it in. I was contacted by Brian to find out what I was looking for and how he could help. I explained what I was looking for and that I also had max amount I was willing to spend as I was going through my bank for the loan. Told me that it was no problem and that they had plenty of vehicles for me to choose from. So we set up a time for me to come down and meet face to face and get into the nitty gritty of a vehicle purchase. I set up a time that he agreed to and drove the 8 hours to meet him.. I get there 15 minutes before we are supposed to meet and he wasn't there as he told me that his day is by appointments. Mike, the floor manager, gave him a call that I was there. So I had to wait till about half an hour after our scheduled time to meet and he shows up in street clothes. I should have taken this as a red flag that my day wasn't going to go how I expected it to. So I brush it off as it is Monday and he told me he had something come up at home, later find out that he forgot. So we sit down and review my options and what I am looking for. Brian did have a truck picked out for me that met all of my requirements but, Mike told him that the system said that I couldn't look at it. So he starts trying to find something else for me and this is when the fun begins. Brian first shows me a truck that is much smaller than I asked for and I turn it down. He then proceeds to drive me to another lot as they have a truck I would like. Turns out I do and they let me drive it back. I am not much of a Ford guy but, I was starting to like the truck. So we get back and sit down and go over the details. Turns out this truck is almost $10k more than what I was willing to spend. So I tell them of another truck I was really interested in and so Brian goes to ask Mike about it. Mike immediately says no the system says I can't have the truck.That it is the Ford or nothing. So Brian explains this to me and I tell him that I can't afford it. Brian tells me that they can work with their banks to get it in my price range. I reluctantly agree and they proceed to ping every bank on the planet which trashed my credit score to the point that banks stop even looking at my application. So I call my bank and again my bank and I push for the other less expensive truck. Now Mike gets mad and tells me the truck is gone that it just sold 5 minutes ago. He also tells me that due to my credit score I can't get a lower interest loan and that the banks will only go for the more expensive truck. He also tells me that the interest rate I have on my current loan and my per-approved loan are a lie. He shows me some sheet of paper with two loans with interest rates almost double what I have. So I tell him that I have one loan and the interest rate is lower. Mike tells me that my bank is lying to me and that this is what it really is. So I show him my loan info and he gets more upset. At this point I am on the phone with my loan manager asking about the over priced truck to which it is denied due to it being to expensive. I tell Mike this and he is pissed. Yells at me to ask my manager what I can afford and what the limit is. So I tell him and he storms off to do something on his computer. Turns out that what he was doing was lowering the price to match my loan. To do this he has to over price my trade in and he makes sure I know this. So I agree to the terms and as I am filling out the paperwork Brian tells me that because they are taking such a huge hit on this truck they are going to take my truck out back and destroy it. That they are going to step on the gas till the engine blows. I am appalled by this and tell him that the truck is in good shape and to do that would be stupid. He tells me that he was only joking. So i sign the paperwork and go to my bank to get the check and head back. They let me drive the new truck to do this and i noticed a few issues. The truck has the mykey enabled and speed and other things are limited as it needs the admin key to unlock it. I explain this to Mike and Brian and they both tell me that due to the fantastic deal they gave me that the issues are my problem and to just "deal with it". Brian tells me that he can get me a discount on getting a new key made but, they can't do it for free. So a week later I drive to another Ford dealer near where I live and get a new key made. Brian tells me that he won't get me the discount and again that it is my problem. So I had to spend an additional $90 on something they should have done for free as it wasn't disclosed to me when I bought the truck but, they knew about it. So overall my experience with this dealership was terrible to say the least. I have never had a dealer get mad at ME because I couldn't afford something. They say they value customers and that they hold themselves to a higher standard than other dealerships. But, that is all a rouse to get people in. So in the end I did get the truck for what I wanted but, I have to rebuild my credit as it took a nose dive with their inquiries. My advice to Mike and Brian, learn what customer service is and treat those same customers with respect. More
