I will open this review by saying that the vehicle I purchased in April 2026 works well and I paid a very good price for it, so one may say "all's well that ends well." If you purchase from them, be sure to document everything, have evidence of the advertised price and be ready to hold them to it, and be ready to send firm emails after the purchase. However, my experience with LA City Cars left much to be desired. I was interested in a car listed on their website at $10,999, but was then told that I could not purchase it at that price and was required to purchase about $5,000 in add-ons such as Cilajet and door protectors. I refused to pay nearly half the value of the car in extras, and was informed that I could not purchase the car at the listed prices (without the extras). After providing a manager with proof of an online listing for the car that stated add-ons were optional and not required for purchase, I had to wait for an extended period of time before they finally allowed me to purchase the car without add-ons. After I took possession of the car (which had a small puncture in the tire that had caused low tire pressure which the dealership attributed to it having sat on the lot - but this was fixed for free by the good folks at American Tire in Upland, CA), I was told that LA City Cars would handle my license plate and vehicle registration, and send me my title (I bought in cash and did not finance). After a month passed and I didn't receive any documents, I repeatedly called the dealership, and never spoke with anyone who seemed to understand what was going on. Finally, on one of my calls, almost two months after purchasing the car, I was told to send a picture of my temporary registration to dmv@lacitycars.com, where I was told to wait two weeks. (Rosa Alvarez, who responds to this email address, is possibly the only reasonable person I interacted with at this establishment. Respect to her.) After two weeks, I still hadn't received anything, and the dealership continued to ignore my emails and rebuff my calls. It was only after sending an email citing the California Vehicle Code's requirements that dealerships start registration processes within 30 days and threatening to file a complaint with the DMV that I received my registration and license plates. They arrived less than two weeks before the 3-month period of temporary registration expired. But all was not over! Although I purchased the car in cash and didn't take out any loan or financing, the registration still listed the title as belonging to a loan company, and I did not receive the title. I sent an email to the dealership once again, and was once again ignored after explaining that I paid in full and did not take out a loan. After a month and a half, I sent another email including proof of purchase and hinting at further action if they refused to provide the title to the car I had paid for. After this email, I finally received the title to the vehicle in my name. More

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I purchased a car and had it shipped to another state over a month ago. The car is still not registered and the car is damaged. No one answers the phones and then when you do speak with someone, nobody calls you back. The initial person that sold me the car was fired also. The whole process has been very shady. I paid a down payment and paid for the registration to be handled, and the car is just sitting in my garage. I am still trying to get in contact with someone about my registration, and still NO RESPONSE. The car was not even shipped with a temporary tag. I do not recommend buying a care from this dealership. More

Bought my car from their sister store in La Puente but while purchasing from their la brea store. Wasn’t until all the paperwork was signed that they told me the car had recalls on file, the obd2 port bra while purchasing from their la brea store. Wasn’t until all the paperwork was signed that they told me the car had recalls on file, the obd2 port bracket in the car was broken and zip tied (they didn’t even tell me I found that out on the drive home) and it also wasn’t until the drive home that I noticed the windshield had not one, not two, not three, but 4 chips in it. Us timer service presale was decent and they worked with me having bad credit, but their transparency, integrity and honesty were trash. Don’t recommend buying from them. In fact, I actively advise others against it. I put 10,000 down on this car and they waited until all the paperwork was signed to either disclose or just plainly let me find out on my own about these issues. Take your money elsewhere. Untrustworthy and not here for the customers. More

I was surprised on how patient the dealership was.
