In this case I’m forced to give a warning about Lakeland Toyota. If you are an elderly person, please do not buy a vehicle unless you bring a family member or a trusted family friend with you, While I do believe the majority of people that work at this car dealership are honest and the owner of Lakeland Toyota may be an outstanding person who is involved in the community, some of his salespeople, sales manger and finance manager seem to have no moral compass. My parents took their 2016 Prius C, a car with less than 16,000 miles in perfect condition with leather seats and sunroof; into Lakeland Toyota for an oil change and left with a Toyota C-HR. They were given $9,000.00 in trade-in on a car that was worth over $18,000.00, The Toyota C-HR XLE had a window sticker list price of $24,789.99. The sales contract has it listed at $26,284.00 and they added $5,973.00 for insurance and protection plan. If the sticker price was $24,789.00 and the sales contract has $26,284.00 –What was the $1,495.00 for? My parents are in their mid 80’s; with my mom in failing heath and my father has dementia. We are working on getting my dad's driver license taken away, but when they don’t volunteer to stop driving themselves then this just adds more stress to the family. While I honestly believe no laws (or able to prove laws were broken) I do feel that between the sale worker, sales manager and finance manager that they knew what they did was unethical and dishonest. I could publish names, but as I say I don’t want to add try someone in the court of public option, but one-day karma will catch up to them. More
