Whenever a bad review, or complaint is received, our Team reviews, reaches out in effort to resolve, learns from the experience, and changes procedure if a pattern is established that does not add to customer satisfaction. There are times that a transaction becomes bad business, that we would have b een better off without, as with this incident with Mr. Bogus. Having been in this business for 45 years, I have never dealt with more conniving, and dishonest individual as Mr. Bogus. I have worked, alongside most of my employees for decades, know them well, and am very proud of their accomplishments. Mr. Bogus has disparaged the reputation of every employee of mine that he has had contact with, referring to them as incompetent, rude, and liars. Mr. Bogus can make all the disparaging remarks about me, but I take exception to false allegations made about my employees. Mr. Bogus turned in an MKZ lease return that was damaged on 7-20-2017. Mr. Bogus was supplied with an estimate, which by definition, is an estimate for damages. After teardown, concealed damage was discovered, and a supplement was attached. State Farm issued more than one check for repairs, including one for $1543.00 that was not yet received here when Mr. Bogus paid his portion of the repair bill. After a few weeks, we reached out to State Farm requesting a new check be issued and old one be cancelled, assuming the original check was lost in the mail. A few more weeks elapsed before State Farm informed us the missing check was cashed by Mr. Bogus. State Farm reached out to Mr. Bogus and informed him the check was meant for repairs on the MKZ. From here, all xxxx broke loose. Mr. Bogus e-mailed that he was "furious", with numerous accusations, including we had accused him of fraud to State Farm, and he was going to "report" us to Lincoln Division. Lincoln Division did in fact get involved, and on the call Mr. Bogus refers to, I offered to resolve the issue for $1000.00 from Mr. Bogus. Mr. Bogus refused the offer. On the call Mr. Bogus stated that one of my employees had told him that he did not owe the $1543.00. I stated the employee in question has a slight speech impediment, and cognizant as such, backs up every conversation with e-mail documentation, which contradicted Mr. Bogus's position. Mr. Bogus chuckled, which cemented my perception of the character of Mr. Bogus. A week after the call, Lincoln Financial, the owner of Mr. Bogus's lease return, offered to pay the repair bill in full. I accepted the offer, Lincoln Financial picked up the MKZ, and assumed our business with Mr. Bogus was finally concluded. As of yesterday, 1-15-2018, Lincoln Financial has no record of any payment from Mr. Bogus for the repair bill. Mr. Bogus does in fact refer to his experience *might* be an exception to our rating. We did not achieve superlative ratings with poor customer service. Landmark is rated #1 in the Nation among all Ford/Lincoln Dealerships in Owner Loyalty. Landmark is also ranked #1 in the Nation among all Ford/Lincoln Dealerships on Reputation.com.
