Lifelong dream When I was 17, I went to London and was driven to Manchester in an early 1970's Mini. I fell in love with it. "Doing the ton" on the M6 as one of th When I was 17, I went to London and was driven to Manchester in an early 1970's Mini. I fell in love with it. "Doing the ton" on the M6 as one of those memories that never left me. So now, 36 years later, I was in a position once again to buy a car, and decided that for one, I would not start with "sensible,' but instead with "fun." I found a gently used, low-mileage Cooper Clubman. Simple and clean inside, more room that I would have expected, great MPGs, and a very reasonable price, so I bought it. The folks at Mini of St. Louis were terrific - welcoming, prompt, and reasonable. I had a small glitch with the car right after buying it, but I was given a loaner and the problems were resolved quickly, easily, and without any cost to me. I do not expect perfection, but I am careful to see how people deal with imperfection, and so far, these folks have done things correctly. I feel a bit like a kid again in my new Mini, and I will confess that on my way home from work these days, there is one particular stretch of country road on which I have relived that moment from so many years ago. This is a good start to a wonderful adventure. More
