There were, however, issues with up-selling of various products and services, which I had been warned about in various blogs. This ended up overshadowing the actual price of the vehicle which we had agreed on before going to the dealership. Having never bought a new car before, these became the source of aggravation, confusion, and misunderstanding for us. There is no way for a customer to make an informed decision about these various add-ons sitting in the finance office with so many documents to sign. Once we had a chance to think about and research these, we ended up going back a few days later to re-negotiate and in some cases cancel certain add-ons. Ultimately this brought the price of the vehicle close to what we had originally expected. This whole process is probably no different from any other dealership, and we don't believe Maita was trying to take advantage of us, but for us it was too overwhelming to leave us feeling positive about this aspect of our purchasing experience. If we ever buy a new car again or work with a dealer, we're going to insist that we have a day to review the full contract before signing. More
