I recently purchased a Toyota Gold Certified vehicle from Maplewood Toyota this past Saturday. I want to start by saying that the salesperson I worked with was great — professional, helpful, and easy to work Maplewood Toyota this past Saturday. Unfortunately, the issue I experienced falls completely on management and the dealership’s internet team. The online listing for the vehicle included photos that showed features the vehicle I purchased does not actually have, including black TRD wheels and additional black trim accents. The vehicle itself is very similar in overall appearance, so I did not immediately notice the differences during my walk-around. I am not an expert in Toyota trim packages, and because this was advertised as a Toyota Gold Certified vehicle, I trusted that the listing accurately represented what I was buying. When I later realized the discrepancy and contacted the dealership, I was disappointed with how the situation was handled by Mike Zin, the sales manager. Instead of taking time to understand my concern or acknowledging that incorrect photos may have been used, I felt dismissed very quickly. There was no willingness to accept any responsibility from the dealership’s side, which was frustrating. I understand that I inspected and test-drove the vehicle prior to purchase, but accurate online representation still matters — especially when the differences involve trim-level features that are not obvious to the average customer. Again, the salesperson did a great job, but the handling of this situation by management and the internet team left me disappointed. I hope the dealership takes steps to ensure listings accurately reflect their vehicles and that customer concerns are handled more professionally in the future. More
