Minus one star because the initial deal we settled on fell through; the reason given was that the other dealership they were trying to get a car transferred from said they actually sold it. No way for me to verify, but I imagine it could be plausible for this to happen. I think they probably knew sooner than they told me, but again that’s just a guess. It’s possible they were being forthright. They found another, mostly comparable model that did successfully transfer, and from there we had a lively back and forth haggling that came close to the original deal in overall price and came in lower on the monthly payment. I think they negotiated a little more than usual for a popular trim level that they had to have transferred, so no complaints about the final result. Finance/signing: 5 stars. I signed a lease, so there were fewer products to push during the closing paperwork, but the finance manager (and I’m sorry I forgot his name) was nonetheless the least pushy finance person I’ve encountered at a dealership. I declined the two extra protections he offered, and it was no big deal. He didn’t keep pushing and pushing and did not become rude at all but remained friendly. Overall: 5 out of 5 stars. Just know going in to expect needing to do some negotiating. Do your research, know where your negotiating power is limited (e.g. on popular harder to find models and trim levels) or higher (e.g. on last year models taking up space), don’t expect them to take a loss on the vehicle they are selling, do expect meeting at least halfway on some items, and then enjoy your new Mazda!
