A Disappointing Experience We were contacted by Manny about an '06 Mazda3 that was currently listed for sale at Mazda of Gladstone after we registered with Costco's Auto Program We were contacted by Manny about an '06 Mazda3 that was currently listed for sale at Mazda of Gladstone after we registered with Costco's Auto Program Services which gives discounts on certified pre-owned vehicles. His email quoted us at $8,832 and explained the price was that high due to demand, passing the standards of their trained specialists, and coming with a 3-month/3,000 mile powertrain warranty. When we went in the next day to look at the car, the bumpers were not on the car (out for cosmetic repair) so we were unable to test drive the car but got to look at it on the lot. When asked about the seemingly high price we were quoted, David Walton (sales manager) said he could run some numbers. Before we left, we were told that an exact quote couldn't be given but through the Costco Auto Program our price would be around $5,500. We returned two days later when the bumpers arrived to test drive the car. After a slightly stressful test drive (the gas tank was nearly empty and the fuel light was on as we started out) and after filling out preliminary paperwork, we were told there had been a mistake and the Mazda was too old to qualify for the Costco program but they could sell it to us for $9,500. We ended up paying $7,700 and were told as we were signing the papers that we were buying the car as is with no warranty. After driving to the nearest gas station then home, I went to start the car the next morning and it had trouble starting. A week of driving it and having starting troubles when the engine was cold in the mornings, we took it back to the dealership's service center. They couldn't reproduce the starting problem but gave us a 3-month warranty which felt mildly insulting after initially being told "our cars come with a 3 month/3000 mile powertrain warranty." While everyone we interacted with was personable and friendly, it seems highly unlikely that a salesman and sales manager would make the mistake that a vehicle wasn't a certified pre-owned vehicle. The service department told us to return if the problem worsens, which it has, but the nearly hour-long drive does't seem worth it if we have to pay up to $200 dollars (as per the warranty) for a repair which likely wouldn't cost more than $200 anyway. All these things, which individually would have been easy to look past, compounded into an overall frustrating experience. More

Manny and Mazda of Gladstone beat the competition hands down Today I had the best car purchasing experience ever and believe me that is saying a lot coming from me because I am a picky perfectionist that dislike Today I had the best car purchasing experience ever and believe me that is saying a lot coming from me because I am a picky perfectionist that dislikes shady, dishonest business practices more than anything. I have my own business and I expect the same great customer service I give to people given to me. This experience is especially important because I had been dealing with a car that was finally deemed a lemon (not a mazda of course) for which the company denied its threat to my life and others for 3 years just to keep money in their pockets. So you can imagine how much research I did to make sure I not only found an amazing, quality, good looking vehicle but there was no way I was going to pay an unfair price. I had contacted at least 7 dealerships in the area and Manny was the most transparent, forthcoming and motivated to make a deal. He was responsive and never condescending. You better believe a few of them treated me like I couldn't possibly do research or math because I am a girl. Finally after back and forth negotiating with Manny over email my fiance and I came in for their 4th of July promotion (which I suggest you rush in for if you are in the market right now) and he made the process painless and actually fun. He took us on a long test drive and explained virtually everything about the car. I was looking for somewhere I felt 100% confident buying from and returning to for service. Somewhat due to my previous experience with a nightmare lemon that I was scared to drive and shady business deals I was adamant on finding people that stand behind the product they work for and strive to make customers happy, knowledgeable and safe. This is where all of this is at. Manny is amazingly knowledgeable, friendly, and 100% interested in finding the right fit for the customer because he knows that a satisfied customer is what ultimately makes the business go round. In under a couple of hours we drove our brand new CX5 home and for once we feel after leaving a dealership we gained rather lost. Trust me don't waste too much time with the competition go get your new shiny Mazda from Manny at Mazda of Gladstone! More
