Had a great experience with this dealership. Most of my contact was with Bill Tsonis, starting with e-Mail. He responded to a website inquiry very quickly, and replied to several questions via email at all contact was with Bill Tsonis, starting with e-Mail. He responded to a website inquiry very quickly, and replied to several questions via email at all hours (late night, morning, etc, whenever I sent them). Made a 2 hour trip to Chicago today and was greeted by the friendly staff when we got there, first thing. Checked out a couple cars and ultimately picked out a 2010 Acura TL Tech. We took it for a ride, worked out a few arrangements and drove off with the car. It really was that simple for us - John Kokkalis (pre-owned manager) must hand-pick the stock because the cars are very pleasing. Finance/Business guy James Licardie was also nice to work with - explained the paper work I was signing! Finally, I wanted to mention that Bill really took care of us. Got us drinks, got the car cleaned (it was a bit spotted from rain), filled the gas tank, bought my wife and I lunch (which was excellent by the way, at their in-dealership cafe!), and also explained all of the warranty terms etc. I'll be back to McGrath.. This was far and away the best car buying experience I've ever had! I came to McGrath extremely frustrated after have a horrible experience with Infiniti, the new car sales manager met with me personall I've ever had! I came to McGrath extremely frustrated after have a horrible experience with Infiniti, the new car sales manager met with me personally and assured me that they would take great care of me, and that is exactly what they did. From identifying my ideal car, to financing, to delivery, their service was superior. I would highly recommend! More
While on my way to work recently, I ran over something that caused an immediate flat tire. When I went to change my tire, I noticed the spare tire was not in good condition. I immediately called John Kakk that caused an immediate flat tire. When I went to change my tire, I noticed the spare tire was not in good condition. I immediately called John Kakkalis who apologized for the oversight, and then he went a step further and promised to repay me the out of pocket expense I incurred buying a new tire. Thanks McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago!!! More
I bought a CPO'd 2008 Acura TL from them in Oct 2012, after my previous car was totaled in an accident. The salesman (Tom Whitfield) was very knowledgable and friendly at the time of the purchase - part after my previous car was totaled in an accident. The salesman (Tom Whitfield) was very knowledgable and friendly at the time of the purchase - part of the reason I purchased the car from them after bad experiences elsewhere. Ever since, this place has been a NIGHTMARE. The only saving grace is the service guy, Jim Ebe. He has been fantastic (but not enough to give better than 1 star). When I bought the car, I saw the CPO'd paperwork that is required to be completed. I was only looking at the brakes and tires, as everything else more or less is covered under the warranty. Brakes were about 50% and tires were virtually new. All good. I noticed after I purchased the car, and was getting the lesson about the features of the car from Tom, that there were no carpeted floor mats. He checked into it, and told me it would probably be about $400 for new mats! (lies #1 and #2). When they were finishing up the car for me to drive away, the porter put the wrong screw in the license plate holder and jammed it to the point they had to drill it out, and I had actually had to come back in for them to fix it. I told them I wanted them to replace all four screw holder/brackets and the screws. I only saw 2 screws when I picked it up (should have looked more closely). After a couple of weeks, I called Tom for the CPO'd paperwork for my records. Couldn't find it anywhere. He said I should have (lie #3). I looked in my paperwork, and throughout the car...nowhere to be found. I called and emailed again...no response. As the cold set in in Chicago, the car was slow to start. I figured if it had an original battery, it would be 5 years old, and would be slow to start. It also wouldn't start when it got colder. I called them and asked them to check on it. While I was there, I found Tom, and told him I wanted my paperwork. He had someone check on it, and AMAZINGLY my carbon copy was in THEIR paperwork...like I told him all along, but he was either too lazy to go look or didn't want me to see it. As I waited for the testing on my battery, I read the paperwork, and found I was supposed to have been supplied brand new floor mats as a CPO car. What a crock of xxxx - see lies #1 and 2 above. By this point, I had already bought new floor mats online. So I made them give me a new battery (turns out a full set of carpeted floor mats are only d$150, not $400). Later, I wanted to have my car valeted, and realized their was no valet key. I called McGrath, and the service guy said it was built into the key...what?! I double checked and of course it wasn't. I checked the CPO paperwork and was supposed to have 2 masters and 1 valet. I called service to schedule another time to come for my valet key - as I should have already. BTW, each trip takes no less than an hour of driving plus time spent there. It is NOT convenient. After they made the key I tested it, and turns out they made a master key, not a valet key....had to wait AGAIN. Now, I went to replace my license plate frame with a different one, and found that only 1 screw was really holding it. The 2 bottom ones weren't there, because the brackets were broken off. The top left one was loosely in there, and the right one was jammed in to the point I needed to use a xxxxxxx set to get it out. I now have to have 4 of those parts replaced as they should have been originally. I can't reuse those broken, rusted pieces. Through this whole thing, I have put in multiple emails/calls to the salesman (Tom Whitefield) with almost no response. I called and emailed the General Manager, Noble Jones, with NO response. 1. Whoever completed the CPO paperwork checked off boxes as complete when they weren't. I don't trust they did any of the CPO 150 point inspection. 2. The salesman has been an Acura salesman with the McGrath group for 12 years. He must know exactly what is included as part of the CPO cars, which means he flat lied to me about the floor mats and valet key, and intentionally kept the paperwork from me. 3. The GM, never responded. Update: after threatening to bring in the manufacturer, an attorney, and the BBB, the owner called me. He agreed to meet with me when I brought the car in. We set up an exact time. He never showed for the meeting. Their poor treatment of customers starts from the top-down. I have been in sales all my life, and Motor Werks of Barrington has been one of my clients in the professional world. I KNOW service and customer satisfaction, and this IS NOT IT! What a terrible place. More

I was completely satisfied with my customer service and overall deal. John Ta went out of his way to get me the best deal and even worked a way to get me a free lunch. I was a little disappointed that I overall deal. John Ta went out of his way to get me the best deal and even worked a way to get me a free lunch. I was a little disappointed that I did not hear from John Ta after our sale to see how we were doing. More
John Ta responded to an inquiry initiated through a car buying service, and was immediately price competitive. This was refreshing after experiencing an attitude of "we're the only show in town" from a dea buying service, and was immediately price competitive. This was refreshing after experiencing an attitude of "we're the only show in town" from a dealership in a neighboring state. After establishing a great price, John worked diligently and politely to close the deal - which was precisely the price and options promised (I added an OEM hitch at a very competitive price). Next, Alex took over to make sure I was comfortable with the operation of the technology included with the vehicle. She was very patient, and an excellent teacher - it was indeed a pleasure to work with her. Even though there is an Acura dealer within 2 miles of my house, I will likely travel 100 miles for service. McGrath knows how to provide an excellent buying experience, and I'm confident the service will follow suit. I will make sure to tell my friends, family, and neighbors that a great deal, and excellent buying experience can be enjoyed by traveling to Chicago. More

My experience with McGrath was that it far exceeded my expectations. I had visited other showrooms and dealt with pushy sales people, so my expectations were based on past experiences. In this case, my expectations. I had visited other showrooms and dealt with pushy sales people, so my expectations were based on past experiences. In this case, my expectations were so far below my actual experience. I got a call from Ksenia when I expressed interest in the 2003 Volkswagen Passat GLX, that I ultimately ended up purchasing. She set me up with an appointment, so when I arrived, I was expected and everything was ready. She was not pushy in the least. She was very friendly and understanding as I explained my situation and what I was looking for. Then Sylvia, our finance person, went above and beyond to find the best interest rate possible for my car loan and worked with me to hammer out all the details to make things happen. The car had an issue with the brake sensor not registering the application of the brakes and when I brought that to their attention, John, in the service department, took care of everything! He secured a loaner car for me and got to work to figure out what needed to be done to take care of the problem. And then McGrath even covered the cost of the repairs!! I am beyond satisfied. Now I know why they say "When you do the math, you choose McGrath" I would highly recommend them for your next car purchase! More
This is the first time I have ever written a review, let me start by saying what a pleasurable experience I had at McGrath Acura. I had been looking for a Acura TL on the internet for sometime. McGrath Acur me start by saying what a pleasurable experience I had at McGrath Acura. I had been looking for a Acura TL on the internet for sometime. McGrath Acura had two TL with low millage, I sent an e-mail requesting information on both vehicles. I received a response from Neal Firszt who invited me to come and take a test drive. I met Neal and took the test drive, Neal was very knowledgeable and explained the vehicle in detail. After the test drive I was stuck between the 2011 and 2012 TL, Neal and I went over some numbers on both vehicles and I told Neal give me a couple of days to make my decision. Neal introduced me to John Kokkalis (Pre-Own Sales Manager) who told me when I decide come back in and we will give you the best deal possible. Neal and John did not do the typical double team and try and pressure me into buying a vehicle from them. They were professional and understanding, this sold me on McGrath more than the vehicles. I have been in other dealerships and they try what I call every trick in the book to make sure you buy a car from them as soon as you walk in the door, including asking for a deposit. I called Neal the next day and told him I wanted the 2012 TL and gave him the day I would return to purchase the vehicle. The day I returned to purchase the vehicle I met with Neal and John we settled on a price and this was not the typical I talk with Neal then he goes and talks to John and comes back to me to tell me what John had to say. No we all sat down and in no time we had a deal, I had done my research on the vehicle and I know I got a fantastic deal and on top of it they gave a good deal on my trade in. Time to sign the paper work I was introduced to James Licardie (Finance Manager) James went over the paper work prior to signing and offered the extended warranty. James like Neal and John was very professional and did not pressure me into purchasing the extended warranty. After everything had been signed I met with Alex Kinnally (Delivery Manager) who walked me through the vehicle. Alex knowledge of the vehicle was fantastic, I had watched several YouTube videos on the TL and I thought I had a good understanding of the vehicle until Alex proved me wrong. I asked Alex how long she had been with McGrath and she stated only a short time and this was the first time that she has worked in the auto industry. The knowledge Alex had not only about the TL but about Acura past, present and future vehicles was that of a seasoned veteran. I would like the thank the staff at McGrath Aucra for a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a new or used Acura. More
