I purchased a vehicle from McGrath Volvo in Barrington IL on 10/10/2025 and my experience appeared to be great in the moment but when I got home and reviewed the paperwork for the loan, I saw that I was char on 10/10/2025 and my experience appeared to be great in the moment but when I got home and reviewed the paperwork for the loan, I saw that I was charged $2737 for “accessory’s” that were sold to me by the finance manager Pritesh Chaudhary. Pritesh used the term “free” during the financing process and had me believing that -key replacement -theft protection -interior and exterior protection We’re all “on the house”. Now I know that nothing in this world is “free”, but when I questioned him in the moment I was told “don’t worry, I’ve got it covered” and so when I saw these charges on my finance agreement it surely was upset and surprised. I called Pritesh to explain my frustration and he appeared somewhat apologetic but I was told “I added those to your benefit.” I explained that I did not want those things and I wanted them removed immediately. He told me that he has to talk to someone else about the situation and that he would reach back out. About 35 minutes later I received a call from the sales manager Latif K. He was not nearly as sympathetic about my situation and actually was very argumentative instead. So I let him know that I would get an attorney involved if he could not fix this for me. He then told me that he could remove the Key replacement and theft protection, but the interior and exterior coverage is already applied to the car before I make the purchase so they can not remove that one- which cost $1987 alone. I of course was not happy with this and so I told him I would go for the attorney then with the video footage that was recorded in the financing room and I’d be sure to leave a review on Google too and he argued with me about “black mail”. He then told me he would watch the video footage and call me back. About 30 minutes later I received a call from Din- another financing manager. He told me that he would like to correct these things on “simple” terms and i could come back to have it done. I drove the 2 hours back to have the corrections made with Din and I was told that if he removed all 3 of those sales that my GAP insurance would go up from $999 to $1740. He stated that I only received the gap for $999 because it was “bundled” with another deal. I was told that if I remove the interior and exterior coverages for $750 (instead of the $1987) I would be paying $1740 “anyway” for the gap insurance. I stood my ground and continued to argue as I didn’t think this was fair. In the end he dropped the interior and exterior coverage down to $500 with a lot of pushing. I give 2 stars for the effort in trying to make it right, but I cannot give any extra stars as I had to jump through many hoops and still didn’t leave 100% satisfied- especially considering I was told that Pritesh “likely unintentionally used words that he should not have used. If anyone would like to buy from this dealer, I strongly encourage you to read though the “purchase” agreement very closely as you’re likely being sold things that you will probably never even use- including a paint protector that is APPLIED BEFORE you even purchase it and not included in your Sale price. After a terrible experience at the Volvo of Lisle’s service department, Mark listened attentively to my concerns and immediately scheduled me for same day service at his location. From the moment I arrived, the experience was seamless. I was warmly greeted, my car was promptly taken into the shop, and a loaner vehicle was ready and waiting. Within just 90 minutes, I received a follow-up text from Mark with the results of the diagnostic—far quicker than the 48 hours it took Volvo of Lisle to even identify the issue. The needed part was already on order, and throughout the process, Mark maintained excellent communication, responding quickly to all of my text inquiries. Even though McGrath of Barrington is over 25 miles from my home in Wheaton, I will gladly return for future service. They truly understand what customer service is all about. More

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS DEALERSHIP! Alex G lied just to get me in the dealership. I put down a deposit on a car two weeks prior to visiting the dealership. I went through every aspect of my situation and credit and repeatedly asked Alex to consult with the finance group prior to me coming in and applying for a lease. I indicated what my credit score was through Experian which is what Volvo supposedly pulls. He guaranteed that I would be approved for a lease. He literally said and I quote "we will get you approved one way or another". I asked if I needed to bring anything for verification for the financing and approval and he sends me an initial financing application the evening before I visit the dealership. I have a disability and severe health problems so it is difficult for me to travel. Needless to say, I spent an hour traveling to the dealership to sit there and wait for three hours for them to tell me I can't get approved for a lease. The sales person (not Alex he didn't even bother to talk to me when I was at the dealership despite sending me dozens of texts and emails trying to get me in) tells me well if you had filled out the application sooner we may have known sooner. They also pulled both my Transunion and Experian reports when I was told Volvo finance only uses Experian. I now have multiple inquiries on my reports, lost money on insurance and have no car. DO NOT buy from this dealership. They will promise you anything just to get you in there and they don't deliver. They are very dishonest. More

I had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience at McGrath Volvo. Despite authorizing only one credit inquiry, my credit was pulled three times without consent, negatively impacting my score. This alone is unacceptable. After negotiating and agreeing on a $5,000 down payment and 5.83% interest rate, I was informed during the same call that the car had been sold. Shortly after, a salesperson called to apologize and assured me the vehicle was still available and being held for me. However, on my way to the dealership, I was informed the terms had changed: the bank now required a $10,000 down payment due to my decision not to purchase a warranty—something I had previously confirmed was excluded from financing discussions. I resolved to finance the purchase through my own bank and offered to pay a deposit to hold the vehicle until the next day. My request was ignored, and within minutes, I was told the car had been sold. The lack of coordination among the staff and their inability (or unwillingness) to provide truthful, consistent information made this the most unprofessional car-buying experience I’ve ever had. This entire process wasted my time, caused undue stress, and left me questioning the integrity of McGrath Volvo. If you’re considering purchasing a vehicle here, I strongly recommend proceeding with caution. Based on my experience, transparency and customer care are not priorities at this dealership. More
