McMullen Ford coompleted my recall service for my 2014 Flex SEL and they were quick and curteous. Professional service. Eric King made sure I was back on the road the same day. I had my first, and last, experience with this dealership over the Memorial Day weekend. My 2004 Navigator suffered a broken right front ball joint. I was at my son's house in Council Bluffs and called my over the Memorial Day weekend. My 2004 Navigator suffered a broken right front ball joint. I was at my son's house in Council Bluffs and called my insurance company for a tow. My son said that McMullen was the closest dealer so I had the tow truck driver deliver it there. My son took me down to the dealership and I filled out a service request and placed it and the keys in the night drop. This all took place on Monday (5-31-21), My son then took me to rent a car and I drove it back to my home in Clear Lake, IA. 270 miles away. I got word on Wednesday that my car was ready so I made arrangements to return to Council Bluffs on Thursday. After I returned the rental car and got back to the dealership I spoke with Todd who was the service writer I had been speaking to. He handed me the Service Invoice and indicated that the total for replacing the ball joint was $727.81 and told me that he had given me a break since I worked for another Ford dealer. I asked him if there was any problem with the left front ball joints and he said "Oh no, they were fine!" It wasn't until later that I saw the invoice charged me for a left ball joint and the labor to install it. I hate being lied to and being charged for something I didn't need! When I was taken out to the shop to get my car I was intercepted before I got to the car by someone in the service department (Service Manager??)and told there was a little problem with the shift lever in the car. He showed me this piece of plastic that he had in his hand and tried to convince me that it had been glued previously and just happened to break off while they had the car. I have had the car for 12 years and not once have I had any problem with the shift handle. I find it very strange that it should break while the car is in for totally unrelated repairs. They said "All you have to do is stick this screwdriver into the little slot inside the shift lever mechanism and you "should" be able to shift OK. Then I was told that I could pick up a replacement shift assembly at LKQ. I called LKQ on this past Friday and was told the replacement would cost $450.00. I have put a temporary hold on the Credit Card payment and I expect the dealership to take care of the repairs on the shift handle and to fully explain why the work was done on the left side of the car when the service writer said it wasn't required. We have a 2016 ford focus with 70,000 miles.. The check engine light had been coming on and off previously and we had taken it to different mechanics in our area (Iowa City) and each time once the car sat engine light had been coming on and off previously and we had taken it to different mechanics in our area (Iowa City) and each time once the car sat overnight the light was off and the car ran fine. . The ford dealership in West Branch, Iowa told us we needed to bring it in when the light was on so the correct issue could be identified rather than guessing. This past April, my son had the car at IWCC and the light began acting up again so we took it to McMullen Ford. They had it for over a week and no communication with me. I had to repeatedly call and text to see what was going on. They apparently could not get the light to come on. After over a week they said it needed $1500 in repairs. I asked if they were sure. They said yes. I had it fixed. 2 days after being "fixed," the check engine light came back on. I called and was given the run around. I was asked if I would like to make another appointment to have it checked to which I said no. At this point, I wanted to go to someone I knew and trusted. I was able to get my car into the original dealership in West branch the next time the light came on. They were able to run the test because the light was on. They were confident it was never the fuel pump as we were told by McMullen and it was actually the eco boost charger ($365 fix) I feel that we were taken advantage of by this dealership. They were very non communicative and unethical. I would never go here again and I would warn others not to as well. More
Excellent treatment. Haven’t felt this well treated purchasing a vehicle in YEARS! Truly a small family owned dealership with owner in the building makes a difference.
