We went to Long Mercedes to purchase a new GLB this past week. We were shown several nice cars and picked out one we liked the best. We decided to go home to think about it and to go look at the Audi Q5. Af week. We were shown several nice cars and picked out one we liked the best. We decided to go home to think about it and to go look at the Audi Q5. After looking at the Q5 we decided on the GLB. We called Chris then next morning and told him we wanted to see two cars that were listed for sale on the web site. He said he would have them ready for us when we got there. We additionally asked if the car we wanted had navigation and garage door openers . He told us he would find out and call us right back. About one hour later he called back and said he had gotten busy with other things and forgotten what questions we had. We repeated the questions and he assured us that both cars did. We got there at the appointed time with the title for our then current car and checkbook with us, and were brought right to the first car we were interested in. Chris started the car and started showing us its features. I immediately asked again if it had navigation and he said "yes, it's right here." he pointed to the nav button. I asked him to show me how it worked and he pressed the button. Nothing happened. He looked up and said, "I guess it doesn't have navigation" and then said for a small fee we can add it. (That small fee is $850.00) Additionally, I then asked to see the garage door openers. He said they would be here in the mirror, but this car does not have them installed. Again, he said for a small fee it can be installed on this car. (That small fee was said to be $250.00) Remember, less than one hour before this he had told us that both cars we wanted to see had both a nav system and garage door openers installed. Obviously, untrue. He just wanted us to come down there and purchase another car that he said had just come on the lot. Oh, that one was $6,000 more. This is classical Bait and Switch, in my book. The second car we wanted to see did have navigation installed. But the problem was, that car while advertised as on the lot and ready to be purchased, could not be found. Then Chris told us it did not exist and was not in inventory. I told him it was in the internet and he went and looked. He then came back and said it was in the loaner program and could not be delivered for twenty days. I then pointed out that he had told us both cars were available and that he had misspoken about the nav system in the first car. He responded, "That's the way it goes sometimes." Are you serious. That's the way it goes sometimes??? So, if that is the way it goes, is he saying that you can expect to be lied to and have to endure a bait and switch atmosphere when trying to purchase a Mercedes with these guys? BTW...there was another salesperson sitting there and heard Chris say that and he was just shaking his head. Needless to say, we left. Drove directly to another dealership and purchased the car we wanted. What a wonderful experience we had at the second dealership. We will never be back to Long Mercedes and will tell anyone that asks about our experience. More
