Hello Mr. Hazelhurst, Mercedes-Benz sent you and many others with affected vehicles a letter stating clearly what to do, how to do it, and what to expect. You purchased a 2011 ML from us and in the last six years, you have only used my service department for two other recalls, which we completed. This recall is for the brake booster. MBUSA sent a letter to everyone that had an older vehicle that is affected by this issue with clear instructions of what to do. In that letter is states to not drive your car. It says that MBUSA will pay to tow it to the nearest dealership so we could inspect it. After the inspection, it will be determined if the vehicle is safe to drive or isn’t. For those safe to drive, parts will be ordered and once the parts arrive we would contact you to schedule installation. If on the other hand, your 2011 ML isn’t safe to drive, then parts will be ordered, ML must remain here, and that Mercedes-Benz will reimburse you the expense of a rental car. Parts for the repair are not always available and some could take 30-60 days to arrive. This is why MBUSA is paying for a rental car versus us putting you in a loaner vehicle. Mercedes dealerships do not have enough loaners to have 10-15 loaned out for 30-60 days for this recall. This is why MBUSA is using rental car companies to help and thus reimbursing the customer directly. My manager in service tried his best to explain the recall and the process. We have had dozens of vehicles with the same recall with no issues. We are happy to have your 2011 ML towed to our store, free of charge to you, inspect the brake booster, then determine the safety, and finally order the parts to replace if needed. There’s a great chance you may not need a rental car and all of this is for nothing. However, without is inspecting your ML nothing can’t move forward. Hello Computernot, I have read your review and spoke to my service advisor team and not one person can remember servicing a 2006 E class diesel or a 2012 ML in the last several months. I need your name, phone number or vin number to look up your account so I’m unable to do any research at this time. When a guest brings their car in with an issue we charge an hour diagnostic fee for the technician to find any issues relating to our customer's concern. If the guest then approves any work that’s needed the diagnostic comes off the bill. We do our very best to duplicate the problem and it sounds like in your case we were unable to do so which resulted in no additional repairs recommended. My shop tries their very best to duplicate the problems our guests are experiencing because that’s why we are here in the first place. However, if we find nothing in need of replacement or repair, then relay that information as well. With your concern about the wood trim and the class action lawsuit. We contacted MBUSA and there is no such lawsuit being filed or in place that they’ve heard of. We can easily replace any pieces of wood trim you would like and provide you a price for such. I don’t know which vehicle you are speaking about but please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist. You mention that you’ve been to different Mercedes dealers and you're unhappy with both. You also mention something about $6000, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Mercedes USA honoring repairs out of warranty and giving accommodations. Hi Jeff, Thanks for the reply. I'll try to clarify - & this is primarily directed to service. Regarding the 2006 E 320 CDI - I understood the $200 diagnosis fee. However in diagnosing a fuel system issue I would hope a tech would start the process from the fuel filter on & then fuel lines, pump, etc. In this case after not finding any issues & returning a week later with error code I was charged another $200 -totaling almost $400 for a fuel filter replacement. My 2012 E 350 4 matic wagon has not been in for service. After selling my diesel I purchased a 2015 ML there. Regarding class action suit- The case :" Callen et al vs Mercedes Benz USA LLC Case # 1:19-ev-0141-TWT (N.D.Ga) -claims Burl Wood Trim in Model years 2010-2016 E Class Mercedes vehicles fades, discolors, & grows cloudy over time. Defendents (MB) denies any wrong doing. Settlement resolves case & provides to Settlement class members. You can see: www.burlwalnutwoodtrimsettlement.com" As part of the claim eligibility an estimate was needed along with pictures & that's why I called to schedule service appt. In either case the dealer would be paid so I don't understand the refusal to give an estimate ? When I called service to bring in 2012 E class, & explaining the situation to the advisor (John?) after he spoke with his mgr I was told nothing cold be done regarding that suit since there were no recall notices sent to dealer. I asked what if I just wanted to have it replaced at my expense & brought it in for normal servicing ? The reply coming from service manager was "We can't do that." That is the statement that set me off in a sense. Regarding the $6000 repair reference-that was from reading a comment by another customer & amongst the repairs were motor mounts at 45000 miles failing. On 3 previous cars owned MB USA accommodated me on repairs of main computer module, Brake master cylinder & turbos (3x) on cars that were out of warranty with significant discounts that my dealer initiated on my behalf. That is where my sense of a dealership that values it's customers shows. I know this isn't Chicago (thankfully !) & as stated I did buy a pre owned 2015 ML there - but the service dept has not given me signs of having confidence any more than a local shop at greatly reduced cost for typical repair & maintenance work.
