Long version: I was originally thinking about getting a bus pass. Portland’s transit system is top notch, I love it. But I needed some more flexibility for my small home-based business. I took a quick peek at the smart car prices. There was a special lease deal on the base model of $99/mo. I picked up the phone and called the smart center at the Mercedes showroom downtown. I was lucky enough to get Dale Acelar on the phone. He talked to me for a few minutes and understood my concerns. He was so enthusiastic about helping me that I decided to come in sooner than later for a test drive even though I thought I’d need to wait a few months to purchase/lease. When I met Dale at the showroom, I was thrilled to meet the same helpful guy in person I spoke to on the phone. I’m not a “Mercedes” driver. Did you know that smart is designed by Swatch and built by Mercedes? Dale immediately put me at ease in this high end space and he was fun and calm on our test drive. As a salesman, of course he made sure I knew that the version of smart (ice shine) I fell in love with was limited in quantity. ;) I needed to act fast. Actually, over the next week, he needed to act fast! Dale and the entire staff at Mercedes worked for a week straight to get me my baby, Oliver. I was so thankful that the day after I picked him up, I took the dealership a baby shower for little Ollie! It was my best day EVER! If you see Oliver and me out driving around, make sure to say hi! I love the car more than I ever dreamed. He is so smart, he’s just perfect for me! Thanks for everything, Dale and team!!! <3 More

I had supreme, out of this world service from the best car dealer in the universe, Dale Acelar. From the very beginning, upon expressing a desire for a SMART but believing it was not an option for me, Da car dealer in the universe, Dale Acelar. From the very beginning, upon expressing a desire for a SMART but believing it was not an option for me, Dale was calm, realistic, honest, and trust worthy. He arranged a fantastic test drive and allowed me to really become familiar with the vehicle. While on my test drive he found a spectacular one of a kind 2013 SMART Passion coupe model that was far superior to the one I was driving, with super duper upgrade options and cost less money than the model I was test driving. Throughout the entire process Dale kept me informed and taught me about numerous awesome parts of the SMART. Every time I sit behind the driver seat I am reminded how happy I am being a SMART car owner. It is so easy to park. It has a banging stereo system. I recently drove 317 miles on 7.1 gallons of gas. This entire experience could not be easier and more stress free. I'm thankful to have gone to Dale, would most certainly and with assurance recommend him to anyone interested in a new Mercedes/SMART, would definitely return to him for another vehicle at a later date and know I would be completely taken care of. Dale Acelar is a born salesman, but more importantly he is a phenomenal employee with an innate way of knowing the right car for the right customer. Friday was the first time visited the dealership, and it is my favorite dealership. Dale Acelar made the experience a most memorable one. Looking at cars in the past has been a terrible experience, but Dale's charismatic and caring personality makes me excited to go back to dealership. When I went to Mercedes of Portland, I was with my Mom and we were soley just looking. Richard greeted us with a huge smile and a few jokes. I was so happy he did not pass me on to another associate (many dealers do- as it may not be his "up"), as I already loved his demeanor. He showed me just the car I wanted to see and had me drive it. I really liked the car (as did my Mom) and most of all enjoyed him. No part of me felt pressured and I knew this was not only the car for me, but also the associate I wanted to work with (feeling good about the car is one thing, but to truely enjoy your saleman is another- as it is a big decision that will be in your mind for a long time!). He contiuned to make my full expierence a perfect 10. I am in sales myself- and rarely give someone a 10. He had all the answers to my questions, and before I knew it I had the keys in my hand. He stayed late and showed me all the tricks and treats of my new car. The entire dealership was full of smiles- really everyone! I look forward to having my service done there, and seeing Richard. 1 day after I bought the car, Richard called me- just to see if I was still in love (HECK YEAH I am...because he listend to me and took time to make sure what he sold me fit my needs); and again today (6 days later- of course still loving my ML). I told my Mom, if I had not met Richard as my sales associate- I would not have bought...just continued shopping. If your in the market- go see Richard; he will listen to your needs, make you smile in the mean time, take fun test drives -answering all your questions, and even have your Momma cracking up too. From there, I checked dealerrater and Yelp for positive reviews of Sales people and Dale Acelar's name came up very frequently. From my initial contact with him, I understood why. His demeanor was not like the "typical" car sale person that I've dealt with in the past. He was attentive, not pushy, answering my questions in great detail, and just exuded a very "down to earth" attitude. Unfortunately, I did not purchase the vehicle - due to my personal circumstances.
