I have been servicing my cars in this dealership for over 20 years. I was surprised the first time by the dishonesty pricing of service they provided! My 2013 SL550 has only 44869 miles, it pops the B1 servi 20 years. I was surprised the first time by the dishonesty pricing of service they provided! My 2013 SL550 has only 44869 miles, it pops the B1 service which triggered me to bring that back to the dealer for services. But before that, the car has two similar services in last two years (including a B1)! I got a quote for over $3000 for this B1 service from Agent Bree, I brought up the fact that we rarely drive this car and we should not need to do anything that already done in last two years (drive less than 4000 miles), and the price was reduced to $2242.73, Mostly change of filters, wipers etc. Only in the final invoice I saw the breakdown: apparently their labor rate is $295 and I got charged for the 3 hours to perform the checkup and replacing spark plugs, wiper. And I got a 120K mile service on a 44K mile CAR after I saw the invoice!!! I checked the market report: The hourly labor rates charged by dealership mechanics in Oregon have seen a significant increase in recent years. According to a 2024 survey by the Northwest Automotive Trades Association (NATA), the general shop labor rate in Oregon is approximately $151 per hour, marking a 25% rise from $120 in 2021. Diagnostic work often commands higher rates, with charges ranging from $95 to $239 per hour, depending on the complexity of the service and the specific dealership. Apparently their labor rate is twice as much of the market, and efficiency is twice as less of the average. Also, differences between B1 Service (Routine Maintenance - Typically Every 20k Miles) and 120K: B1: it’s relatively basic: • Oil and filter change • Cabin air filter replacement • Brake inspection • Fluid checks (coolant, brake, transmission, etc.) • Tire inspection • Diagnostic system scan • “1” code adds some specific checks (e.g., brake pads/rotors) Time: ~1.5–2 hours Cost: ~$300–$600 at a dealer ⸻ 120,000-Mile Checkup (Major Maintenance Milestone) This is a comprehensive service, which often includes and goes well beyond B1: • All B1 items, plus: • Spark plugs replacement • Transmission fluid and filter change • Coolant flush • Drive belt inspection/replacement • Air filters (engine) replacement • Battery and charging system check • Suspension, steering, differential inspection • Fuel system service (optional) Time: 3–5+ hours Cost: $800–$1,500+ depending on what’s needed I got very bad feeling from this dealership. Dishonor is what i got. More
