Well, you asked. The only reason I came to the dealership instead of my normal mechanic is because a 3 year maintenance contract was offered when I purchased the vehicle. That sounds like a good deal on paper, but my experience was far from that. Why do I have to schedule a routine oil change more than a week in advance? It makes sense now, since a 15 minute job took them 2 hours to complete. The larger issue I encountered that is immediately actionable is your communication. I was sitting and waiting and not once during my entire time there did anyone come tell me what was happening. I had to get up and go ask what was taking so long before I got any information. If you run into a snag while working on a car that will make it take longer than anticipated, TELL THE CUSTOMER. After waiting an hour, I don't want to hear that my car "should be done in 10 minutes" and then have to come back to the desk 45 minutes later to hear "Oh, there was an issue and we're waiting on a part." Why would you NOT tell me that? That affects me directly since I'm stuck in your lobby until you're done. The nail in the coffin for me was that my car was finished but I wasn't told that it was. When I came up and asked they said they were figuring something out with the paperwork. What paperwork? This was a routine oil change offered as a part of a maintenance contract the dealership offered. I don't owe any money, why can't I get my car back and you figure it out yourselves? I don't want to be there so get me out as soon as possible. I wasn't asking for any special accommodations. I simply accepted the dealership's offer for a maintenance contract. You don't need to offer me coffee and donuts while I wait. I'm just here for service. I want to get in and get out with no hassle. As a side note, whoever details the interiors of vehicles did a terrible job with mine when we bought it. It was sent back to be detailed a second time after a mess was discovered during the test drive (and the embarrassed salesman apologized for it) and there was still old french fries and debris under the back seats when I picked it up. I'd think if a car had to come back twice, you'd make sure it was actually clean before you send it back out.
