Love my GMC truck but loathe having to take it in to Motor City GMC for service. Every service writer has been very personable in the 15 years I have been buying GMC trucks. Sadly, per an unnamed service advisor Motor City understaffs the number of diesel mechanics they employ which causes delays in warranty service. I am ok with waiting the month or so to get in for service but will never be ok with the vehicle then sitting for 3-4 days if not longer before they get around to servicing the vehicle. You would think if the focus really was on customer service they would make sure that on the day "they" schedule the vehicle to come in they would be prepared to begin servicing the vehicle. Currently Motor City over books the diesel appointments in the service department which only ensures delays and higher ratings. More
Ryan Benak is the best person to ask for. He is not the “typical” salesperson. He went out of his way to find me the best truck for me but the best deal for my budget. Thank you Ryan! Motor city was able to do the repairs on my 2003 H2 Hummer , but the cost was expensive, so if you are ready to spend about twice as much as an independent shop , Motor city is your place Hummer , but the cost was expensive, so if you are ready to spend about twice as much as an independent shop , Motor city is your place More
Made appt over the phone with stupid computer (no AI here folks). Show up and a short hispanic (I use this descriptor because he didn't give me his name) begins to give me xxxx for making appt on a Fri becau folks). Show up and a short hispanic (I use this descriptor because he didn't give me his name) begins to give me xxxx for making appt on a Fri because, he says, they don't do diagnostic appts on Fri. He said I would have to reschedule. I told him there was no way as the computer they use to schedule the appts didn't say that and Fri was the only day I was able to arrange bringing in the vehicle where I had someone to give me a ride home. So he is arguing with me and I wasn't happy. When I got out of me truck I shut the door harder than I expected and the guy starts yelling at me to calm down and I told him I was calm but he runs off and gets the manager. Manager shows up and even he admitted there computer is junk. He then tries to tell me they tried to call and I claimed xxxxxxxx on that. I asked when did they try, he gave me the date and both us went thru my cell phone and I showed him there were no missed calls and no VM left. Further, there computer had texted and emailed twice confirming the appt. In any case, he tells me they will get it done that day as I brought it in to clear limp mode after changing out the DEF htr. The water in fuel light was also on. They didn't get it done that Fri. The "advisor" David, calls me Monday and states it needs a $45 glow plug replaced at a cost of almost $400 plus almost $300 to clear the code. He then recommended I replace all the glow plugs at a cost of over $1000 since they recommended that after 100,000 miles. I asked if they bothered to even look at the mileage as the truck only had 57,000 miles. He then tries to tell me there is an "age" deadline as well---I know an upsell when I see it. I did ok the #8 glow plug as it is the more difficult one to remove and I didn't have time to do it. I questioned the cost to clear the code and he stated he would "work with me". I asked when it would be done and he told me that weds but he would contact me when it was ready. 10 days later I had not received a call, text or email from David. I finally call wondering what is going on only to find out that the truck has been ready for 9 days. REALLY!!!! and David didn't let me know. I go in to pick up truck. Price was what I was quoted --so much for David's "I'll work with you" statement. Didn't bring reading glasses so when the girls in the office asked me to sign the work order I had to ask them what it said. I will give the girls 5 stars as they were polite and took care of me quickly. I did have to ask multiple people where the part was that I asked to be kept at the time I authorized the part to be replaced. David finally wandered to the back and brought back one he claimed was mine. When I left, the water in fuel light was still on. I was too disgusted to have Motor City touch any vehicle of mine again so I went somewhere else to have the fuel filter replaced which cleared the alert. Went to smog it but it didn't pass. Turns out there is a whole stupid procedure to reset all the monitors in a diesel that they didn't tell me about. I bought this truck from them and took it to them when it needed something done to it. But I'll never go back which kinda sucks because I own a local Veterinary Hospital and try to do all my business locally. I will certainly be sharing my experience with my clients. More
