Stephanie- your lights weren't left on during the oil change, they were left on when you exited your vehicle during drop-off. As stated by your advisor, when pulling into the shop the battery was dead, at that time we tested your battery and it was low. If the battery was still good one time leaving your lights on wouldn't have warranted a new battery.
