Always go to BMW, Minnetonka for your service needs – different ownership Conclusion: My experience with BMW, Bloomington has been a nightmare. Always go to BMW, Minnetonka for your service needs – different ownership/ management. Better reputation. Problem: My 2005 BMW (150,000 + miles) had experienced severe car problems resulting in my car completely shutting off while driving in December 2016. I had taken the car in to the dealership to have it diagnosed and they had reported back to me that I had an oil leak that was causing a shortage with the computer. $850.00 later, got it fixed. Less than 5 miles later on my way home, my car completely shut off once again. I immediately returned to BMW, Bloomington to report the issue once again. They had run a diagnostic once again (thankfully – it was free) and told me I had needed a new computer. When I heard the price of what a new computer would cost - $3,946.46 I had called my dad, who is more mechanically savvy than I am to help me out with the issue. After he had discussed with them over an hour – troubleshooting other probable causes of what could be the issue, performing another diagnostic, even talking to the head mechanic, they were 99% sure the computer was still the issue. But, something in my gut told me otherwise. Upon getting my car towed to back to my house, I had decided to look more into the issue myself. I looked up the code P0174 (the returned code from the diagnostic) and saw that bank 2 was running lean. Looking at all of the possible bank 2 issues, I had decided to look into the “easy fixes” first. Two second into investigating, there was a HUGE hole in my air intake boot. Upon the replacement, my car was fixed. My car has not shut off since. Through various conversations, I had been recommended to write this review. Many seemed all too familiar with the B.S. associated with BMW, Bloomington’s service department. More
