Murdock Auto Group started in 1982 with the opening of our Murdock Chevrolet store in Bountiful Utah. In 2005 with the purchase of our first Hyundai dealership in Orem, Utah , Murdock Hyundai began. In 2006 we purchased our Logan dealership and in 2008 we bought the Salt Lake City store . For our Hyundai dealerships our goal was simple, have a Murdock Hyundai in every neighborhood. We are sorry for Mr. Wolken’s bad experience with our Service Department. Mr. Wolken is correct in that a complete and thorough inspection was never done, per Mr. Wolken instructions. He was concerned about possible costs. The estimate and proposed repairs were based on what he described was happening with the car and the minimum inspection that took place. The estimates were also based on a worst-case scenario, which is not uncommon with the type of engine issues he described. There also was a billing error on the labor estimate which, when discovered was quickly fixed. Our service manager spent considerable time talking to Mr. Wolken and apologized for the situation and the stress it caused Mr. Wolken. In his discussions with Mr. Wolken, our Service Manager stated it should have been handled differently and he would use this situation when training his staff. But the bottom line is no complete inspection was done per Mr. Wolken’s wishes, no money was paid by Mr. Wolken and no repair was done. Our General Manager has been out of the office and therefore unable to contact Mr. Wolken. We are very sorry to lose Mr. Wolken’s business, but feel we did all we could to remedy this awkward situation.
