Murdock Auto Group started in 1982 with the opening of our Murdock Chevrolet store in Bountiful Utah. In 2005 with the purchase of our first Hyundai dealership in Orem, Utah , Murdock Hyundai began. In 2006 we purchased our Logan dealership and in 2008 we bought the Salt Lake City store . For our Hyundai dealerships our goal was simple, have a Murdock Hyundai in every neighborhood. Jordan, My name is Paul Tew I am the General Manager at Murdock Hyundai Of Lindon. The review you left about our dealership is categorically untrue. I say that for the following reasons: 1. Before you flew out here from Kansas we informed you that this vehicle was "as is" meaning it had 206,000 miles on the car and therefore we would not warranty or guarantee anything on the vehicle. You stated that you were a mechanic and didn't care. further stating that you would fix the car yourself and you were not worried about the condition. We agreed on a price before you came and we met that price when you got here. 2. I didn't want there to be any confusion about this vehicle because it had 206,000 miles on it so I made sure that I personally signed your paperwork with you. I had you sign that you were aware that the car came with no warranty, no guarantee, and no refunds. You again told me that you were a mechanic and would fix any problems yourself. 3. I had you sign the Utah Buyers guide that clearly stated that the car came with no warranty. Specifically it states "YOU WILL PAY ALL COST FOR ANY REPAIRS. The dealer assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle." You signed this contract which is legal and binding. Again I personally signed your paperwork to ensure that you were aware that you would be responsible for all and any repairs on the vehicle. I spoke with you about this at length to which you continually replied " I know" , "I Understand" and "I'm a mechanic so I'm not worried about it". Some of our cars qualify for our No REGRETS guarantee. which means that they come with some warranty and guarantees. Yours did not qualify as a NO REGRETS vehicle due to the age and miles of the car. I sincerely do not know how I could have been any more clear or up front and honest about this vehicle. I let you know from beginning to end that the car would come with no warranties. Paul, My name is Jordan Entz. I am the customer of Murdock Hyundai of Lindon. I think the way you read my review of your dealership is categorically untrue. 1. I never said it wasn't sold "as is." I am indeed a mechanic, but I couldn't fit my garage of tools and a spare transmission into a suitcase (believe me, I tried). I paid for your service department to check it out and they said there were no issues with the transmission. No even means no in Spanish, so I don't what dictionary they were reading. 2. There was no confusion. Again, I understood it was sold "as is." With such knowledge, I called many times before the repair, from the side of the road, only asking, "Can you help me in any way?" to several employees and managers. That's when I got the response that I should tow it the rest of the over 1000 miles home, at which time there was still over 1000 miles to home. Sounds reasonable because I'm a mechanic, right? Also, your receptionist was quite nice. Don't remember her name, but she needs a promotion. Maybe to General Manager. 3. Again, again, I understood that, "[I] WILL PAY ALL COST FOR ANY REPAIRS." Although I don't remember that being in all caps. I know this is legal and binding, but it's normally good friends in a tight knit community that use those words rather than helping each other because words only mean nothing when among friends. Again, again, again, I understood that it was being sold "as is." You did speak with me at length, but never told me that the transmission would go wrong in less than 50 miles or I would not have said, "I'm not worried about it." I would have said, "Okay. Bye." or, "Well, that isn't a good deal." or my favorite, "I'll buy it anyway so your employees can tell me to get lost, because how else will I have fun?" Only some of your cars come with the "NO REGRETS" guarantee? When I go to http://www.murdockoflindon.com/, I see up at the top is says, "MURDOCK HYUNDAI, YOUR NO REGRETS DEALER." (That might be where you learned to use all caps.) So you're telling me that your motto only applies to some of your vehicles? Maybe that makes sense to the guy with the messed up dictionary. You probably need to get rid of him. Then your secretary can have the General Manager position. I am I welcome to call you personally? Last time I wasn't. Maybe I tried calling you impersonally, but now we are best of friends, so I'll try that. I think you deserve that 4/5 star friendliness rating, because only my good friends talk to me like this.
