I live in Kansas and saw a vehicle this dealer was selling, so I contacted the dealer and spoke with Eric Adams. Because my journey was over 1000 miles, I paid for it to be checked out before I flew out to pick it up. I specifically mentioned the engine, transmission, and drivetrain to be checked closely and made it known that I had a long journey home of over 1000 miles. All the issues they found were cosmetic, so I went ahead and bought it in spite of the $300 paperwork fee that was not included in the total they gave me before coming out (which they did not honor), and the empty tank of gas. Eric Adams addressed these two issues with, "We have to make money somehow." Less than 50 miles away from the dealer, the vehicle ground to a halt. The transmission was toast. Before I called a tow truck or repair facility, I called Murdock to see if they could help. I never suggested that I return it or have them pay to fix it. I simply told them the story and said, "Can you help me in any way?" Eric Adams said, no. I asked if I could pay out of pocket to have a tow to their place and pay them to check it out. Eric responded, "No. Please don't come back. There is nothing we can do for you." After talking with three other managers and Paul Tew, the general manager, I received many suggestions (of which none included them helping even find a towing company, repair facility, or hotel to get me off the side of the road). My favorite suggestion is when a manager stated that I should rent a U-Haul and tow it back to Kansas and fix it myself. With no option but fix it, I had it towed to a transmission repair facility. It cost $2,727.12 for the transmission, $134.08 for two nights at a hotel, and $165.00 to get it towed. After the repair, I drove back to the dealer and confronted Eric Adams and others with the $2,727.12 bill and the transmission parts in my hand, asking if there is any way they could help. I would have been happy if they would have helped with the hotel or tow cost, but Paul Tew responded with, "Do you want me to make this a charity case?" He spoke with me for less than two minutes before coming to the conclusion that he could do nothing. I followed up with letters and phone calls, but my letters received no replies and my favorite response from a manager over the phone was, "We shouldn't have even let you have us check it out before you flew out." Other responses generally pushed the blame on me for buying the vehicle at such a discount. Because of this I have discouraged several people (including my own mother) from buying a Hyundai. My experience buying a car at Murdock was over all pretty great. I am happy with the car I purchased. I visited this dealership in a span of two days, both days test driving vehicles. The salesman that I was with was very helpful and willing to let me drive the vehicles that I had an interest in. They weren't pushy in trying to get me into a vehicle that I didn't want, which I have had at other dealerships. I ended up purchasing a used 2006 BMW 325i on the second day. The salesman knew from the first day that I was interested in this vehicle, but due to time restraints I wasn't able to drive it until the second day. Because of this fact, the salesman actually helped keep the car around until I was able to put it through the ropes, and I am extremely glad that he did this for me, since this is the vehicle that I ended up getting. The dealership was able to offer me an extended 100,000 mile warranty on the drive line, which I wasn't expecting. After I took the vehicle home for a couple days I ended up finding a few things wrong with the vehicle, such as a headlight wrongly installed by the previous owner, the windshield wiper arms were at the wrong angle from a previous mechanic as well, and the door handle was sticking. These few things I was able to correct myself, no big deal. I also found that some of the Valve Cover bolts had broken, resulting in a substantial oil leak. I went back to the dealer early Monday morning, asking if this could be fixed under my warranty. I was told by a manager that my warranty wouldn't cover this type of fix, but out of concern for me, their customer, they decided that they would be willing to do the repairs at no cost to me. This I extremely appreciated. I also opted to have an oil change at the same time since they were going to be draining the oil anyways. The dealership also replaced a turn signal bulb that had gone out previously before I purchased. Overall, I would say that this dealership, Murdock Hyundai of Lindon, went above and beyond for this customer. More

When we got to the dealership almost a week later, they had the Traverse ready to go. Both Derick and Jason were very friendly and answered all our questions. We didn't feel pressured by anyone. We already had our financing arranged, so all the paperwork went smoothly and quickly. It was the least stressful car buying experience we have ever had. I was skeptical at best when I walked into the dealership. I had spoken with Jim on the phone previously and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. He was friendly and helpful and I felt absolutely no pressure to buy at any time. He clearly helped me understand the differences / positives / negatives of lease vs. buy and always respected my views. Jim was also very courteous of my schedule and was willing to meet with me when it was convenient for my schedule. I couldn't have been more satisfied with the experience and would happily recommend Murdock Hyundai and Jim Engle especially to anyone looking to buy a new or used Hyundai. More
