Tried to buy a 2020 Ford Explorer Platinum from Hawk Ford Oak Lawn. They listed it with 5,600 miles on it for $48,995. When the sales person showed me the offer I nearly fell out of my seat. The manager came Oak Lawn. They listed it with 5,600 miles on it for $48,995. When the sales person showed me the offer I nearly fell out of my seat. The manager came up to me and made the situation worse . Manager said, Let me explain it to you because the salesman is new.” He proceeded to tell me the car originally listed for $61,000 and they’re going to sell it to me for $55,000 minus the trade of $6,000. I told him the car was listed for $48,995, why are you selling it to me for 55 grand. He said, and I kid you not, because they have to pay Cook County tax of 8.25% before the rebates and other incentives on the end of the model year. I said, “The math doesn’t add up, you’re trying to screw me over.” He said, no this is what you’d pay at any dealer. I told him that I’m not at any dealer, I’m here and you listed the car for $48,995. Needless to say they wanted to rip me off. I grabbed my trade in keys and left the dealership. Completely falsely represented the price of the car and them tried to sell me on the monthly payments. I will never go back to this dealer again. More
