Unprofessional and dishonest. I brought my 2017 2500 truck in for its first oil change for a 9A appointment. They pulled the truck into the first service bay at 9:25 and it sat the I brought my 2017 2500 truck in for its first oil change for a 9A appointment. They pulled the truck into the first service bay at 9:25 and it sat there until 9:35. At 9:35, the Service Advisor, Ken, came into the waiting room and asked for me, he proceeded to tell me that my truck requires synthetic and it would be over $100 for the oil change. I had responded that I only wanted conventional in it. Ken told me he doesn't recommend conventional. I responded by stating I want a conventional oil change. Ken told me that he would ask his manager if he could do that. Ken came back about 5 minutes later and told me that conventional will void my warranty and that I need to use synthetic. At this time, I pulled Ken out of the waiting room into the first service bay and told him it's illegal to void a warranty due to a type of oil used. He told me he isn't going to be responsible for my motor blowing up and that synthetic needs to go in the truck. I told him to pull my truck out out the bay and that I won't be doing business here anymore. I proceeded to tell him that I am an Amsoil dealer and always use signature series synthetic, but that I am going on a trip and can't wait to change the oil, that as soon as I got back from the trip the conventional would be drained for Amsoil. I also told him that synthetic is recommended, but all oil of the same weight meets the required API standards, that the only way an oil can void my warranty is if it is proved from oil analysis tests that it was the cause of an issue, that required warranty work. Ken replied by stating he'd put a note on my vehicles history that the warranty is voided and walked away. I will not be going back to Nemers service department as they are unprofessional by "attacking" a customer in the waiting room, and are dishonest by lying to upsell a service. Ken not only lost a sale today, he lost a customer that had been going to nemer for service with his last 2 trucks (note - all my previous vehicle receipts state "customer's own oil, Amsoil weight X". He also lost a potential car sale, as my girl friend was on the way over to look at a Durango I saw on the lot. If Ken had tried to sell me synthetic the proper way, I probably would have upgraded and kept it in until my following oil change, when I would have switched to Amsoil. On a positive note, I saw a familiar face working in the shop and stopped to catch up with him for a few minutes before leaving. More
