Out of state buyer After spending hours on the internet searching for a Highlander, we found Newark Toyota to have the most competitive pricing and service. Driving 4+ h After spending hours on the internet searching for a Highlander, we found Newark Toyota to have the most competitive pricing and service. Driving 4+ hours from Virginia Beach was well worth the effort. Ruth Jubb, BDCAgent and Ken Steen, Product Specialist greeted us upon arrival, and could not have been more professional and courteous. Even though we were purchasing a used CPO Highlander, Ken spent extensive time with us going over all features and systems, answering question, explaining warranty features just as if we were a new car customer. We also appreciate their help with out of state registration and tagging for the car. We highly recommend Ken and Ruth as well the Newark Toyota experience. More

Honda customers can change for the better! We've owned 5 Hondas over the past 25 years and thought we were Honda customers for life. It was time to replace our 2004 Pilot and on the way to the Honda dealer decided to stop in the Toyota dealership next door. What a revelation! Mark Truong greeted us warmly and immediately took us to see a Highlander in the showroom. We were impressed with the car itself and especially Mark's style: informative but not overbearing. He was the one suggesting a test drive and in a matter of moments we were behind the wheel of a beautiful Highlander in toasted walnut, a color we fell in love with at once. Mark gave us an introduction to the many functions and accessories on the car and then we were off, driving all over Newark and really enjoying the ride. When we returned we went over financials with Mark and explained we weren't going to make a decision until we saw the new Pilot. He understood completely and perhaps knew there would be no competition from the Honda. Disappointed by the Pilot we drove, we immediately called Mark to set up an appointment for that Monday since we didn't have the title to our present car in hand, nor a check for a deposit. Mark suggested we come back that day- a credit card would suffice for the down payment and we could bring in the title the following day. Despite returning near closing time, Mark and the other members of the Staff at NTW patiently took care of everything and eventually we left with our new Highlander. It was a terrific buying experience, made all the better by Mark's dedication to satisfying us. He is a real asset to your organization. More
Update to previous rating As an update to my original rating I want to say that Jeff Ikles, the Sales Manager, has responded professionally and with extreme courtesy to my comp As an update to my original rating I want to say that Jeff Ikles, the Sales Manager, has responded professionally and with extreme courtesy to my complaint. Jeff has indicated that they have updated their processes to avoid the delays related to receiving release of lien from lien holders so that customers get paid in a timely manner. In my case, it appears that there was a disconnect between their finance department and the sales department. The finance department knew that there was an issue with my title, but never notified the sales department. Had this been done, I would have received payment for my GTI in a timely manner. Oh, and as a gesture of good will, Mr. Ikles offered to have me stop by and wash my car and/or fill up the tank...maybe I'll take him up on that in the near future. As a result of their response, I've increased my rating of the dealership. I will never deal with this dealership again whether it is to buy, service, or sell a vehicle, and caution anyone out there to beware of their poor business practices!!! This review relates to how they handle the purchasing of vehicles. I was directed through Autotrader.com to dealerships that would provide me with an instant offer for my vehicle. Although I had offers from many dealerships, this dealer was close to home so I chose them. After the paperwork was completed, they said they could't pay me until they received the title from the lien holder. This doesn't make sense since if I would have purchased a vehicle from them they would have taken my vehicle in trade and the equity would have been applied to the new vehicle. They told me it would take 2 weeks max to get the title and my check so I proceeded with the transaction, but after 3 weeks with no check, I called the guy who handles purchasing vehicles, Mr. Harris. He said that they had not received the title, so I waited another 2 weeks and called back, Again he told the secretary to relay to me that they had not received the title and would not even speak to me. I then asked to speak to his manager. Normally, the dealership handles all financial transactions, however, the manager told me I would have to deal the bank to resolve the issue myself. It seems that the dealership should handle this since it is a bank transaction between them and the lien holder since I did not have the title. Meanwhile, 3 weeks ago, they knew that there was an issue but made no contact with me. As of today, I still have not received a check from Newark Toyotaworld. They have possession of my vehicle, and for all I know have illegally sold the vehicle to another customer. I asked for my vehicle back and offered to pay them the amount they paid the bank, but got no reply, in fact, they made a back handed threat to sue me! They have had possession of my car for 6 weeks but I still have not received payment. DO NOT SELL YOUR CAR TO THIS DEALERSHIP!!! More
