I bought a used car from this dealership and had it shipped to Illinois. They told me that they could not issue a temporary plate because it was being shipped to Illinois. I wasn't aware that this woul shipped to Illinois. They told me that they could not issue a temporary plate because it was being shipped to Illinois. I wasn't aware that this would be an issue. However, the registration of the car in Illinois cant be completed without the DMV in Illinois receiving a copy of the Title from the state of California. Unbeknownst to me, this process takes anywhere from 30-60 days. In that time frame the buyer can't drive the vehicle without a temporary plate. My issue is, if you are a dealership selling cars to out of state buyers, I would expect that the dealership finance department would guide the buyer through the transaction. In other words, provide some means for the new owner to actually be able to drive the car while the details of the title transfer state to state are finalized, This dealership sold me a car and once the transaction was done, the were of no help at all. And here I sit, not being able to drive me new delivered vehicle for the foreseeable future! Out of State buyer beware of buying a car from North County Cadillac, GMC. More
