After meticulously shopping for a new Prius II at literally every Toyota dealership in the state of Rhode Island (!), I finally settled on purchasing my new hybrid from Tarbox in North Kingston where literally every Toyota dealership in the state of Rhode Island (!), I finally settled on purchasing my new hybrid from Tarbox in North Kingston where they worked hard with me to settle on an affordable price for my new vehicle. You can be sure to get an honest deal on your new car at this establishment. What is most impressive about this dealership, however, is their customer service. Not surprisingly, I met a lot of friendly salespeople in my Prius-purchasing adventure. But none were as knowledgeable as the people you will work with at this dealership. I owned my last car for 10 years, and so this is my first hybrid vehicle. Bill Derby (whom I highly recommend as a salesperson) took the time to explain every feature of the vehicle at least twice over to me (both before and after I bought the car); he answered all of my questions and promised his continued help in the future if any concerns were to arise on my part. The employees at tarbox are looking to establish a long-term relationship with their customers, and, therefore, you can expect to be treated exceptionally well at this dealership before and after you sign the dotted line. In the meantime, the business manager who worked with me, Sarkis Tarpinian, also took a LOT of time in explaining every detail regarding the financing process of my new car. (This was important to me since I am not a numbers person! Sarkis was extremely patient with my financial anxiety :) Tarbox is one of the somewhat larger Toyota dealerships in the state, and many of the smaller dealers will insist that this makes them less "friendly" or reliable. Don't be fooled my the mom-and-pop dealer sales pitch. At Tarbox, I was treated extremely well; the service was impeccable. They took their time with me, AND they do lots of business there, so you will have plenty of choices on the lot. I drove away with a beautiful, black, clean, fueled-up and cared-for, new Prius II, which I actually understand how to drive and which I purchased at a price I could live with! It hasn't been long, but so far the car and I are very happy together. Here's hoping we still are years down the line! More
Jay was very professional and did an outstanding job as a salesman. He is person having a ton of patients and a vast knowledge of Toyota. I was offered a truck at $4K off the original sales price of a truck I bought. I later found the window sticker, attesting to a $1,900 misrepresentation. I respectfully approached the sales manager Matt, who shined me on with a series of increasingly illogical responses ("Well, you like the truck, don't you?"). I then talked to my salesman, Anthony Mancuso, who before he knew my complaint, confirmed what Matt had told me about price. He said he would help me, but failed to return any of the several calls he said he would ("Your issue went upstairs. I'll get back to you Monday...Matt returns from vacation on Saturday, we'll have a conference call"). The Ed Tarbox "call me anytime" number has been "not receiving new messages" for 3 weeks now, suggesting that it is a scam. I believe I am correct; Tarbox Toyota may believe it is correct. But I cannot get a response to my complaint and I have been treated with discourtesy and disrespect, not what I expected from an Ed Tarbox company. More

When I entered the showroom, I had no intention of purchasing a new car. My car was being serviced and I was curious to see if a new car might be an option for me. Anthony was eager to help me make purchasing a new car. My car was being serviced and I was curious to see if a new car might be an option for me. Anthony was eager to help me make a decision and while I realize he was eagar to make a sale, I did not feel like I was being presured into buying a new car. I asked if there was a way for me to buy a new Camry and still maintain the amount I was currently paying on my monthly payment for the old car, which still had one year of payments due on it. We were able to make the numbers work. Anthony was helpful and honest with me as to what my options would be. I also appreciate that he was respectful of my hesitation to make such a quick decision and eager to see that I was pleased with the decision I made. More
The overall experience was great, the salemen (Jay) worked to make us happy. My only criticism would be on the overall process of getting to an agreed sales price. This must be an industry standard for each sale force where the sales person has to get "approval" from the manager on each an every iteration of the sale price negotiation. The salesperson should have the authority to make the deal right then an there in front of the client. Instead they are marginalized by a manager in what appears to be a scripted conversation on what the sale price has to be for a sale to made. After thirty years of buying cars this game has not changed. More
