Let the games begin. I entered Matt Slapp Subaru with a pre-negotiated price from USAA. I thought, wow, this will be easy. I was wrong. I wanted to know my trade in value for my current car before going pre-negotiated price from USAA. I thought, wow, this will be easy. I was wrong. I wanted to know my trade in value for my current car before going any further. After the appraisal the salesman and his boss could not give this information to me without knowing my current car payment and balance on the loan. Hmm, I wonder why? Possibly to make up the money they were lsing from the USAA price? I walked out and went to Wilmington Subaru the following week and received a fair trade in without having to disclose my current payments or balance. The same salesman from Matt Slap called or emailed me the next day asking if I was still interested in a new Forester. Apparently he did not recognize my name or remember our prior interactions. More
Had an amazing experience! Dorian was a pleasure to work with in person and Tucker coordinated everything for me in the days leading up to my visit to the dealership. I made several phone calls to get pricing on the 2013 Outback we were going to buy. We actually went to Concordville Subaru to make the purchase, because that dealership quoted me the best price, both ve Outback we were going to buy. We actually went to Concordville Subaru to make the purchase, because that dealership quoted me the best price, both verbally and in writing. We made an appointment for the next day (Friday) and when we walked into their store, the pricing games began. Just like "magic", the "extra fees" began falling from the sky. They were so sleazy and unprofessional, we walked out and called Chris Mooney at Matt Slap Subaru. When I spoke with Chris the day before (Thursday), he advised me to be careful, because the price I'd been given by the other dealer seemed too good to be true. He was absolutely right. During our call on Friday morning, I told him if the price he'd quoted me was still good, we would come down and buy the car from him right now. He checked his paperwork and reviewed the numbers with me--they were exactly what he'd given me before, so we went to buy the car. Turns out that his price was a bit better than the other dealer's when you counted the "fees". We arrived at Matt Slap, and were treated very professionally. When he finished with a customer, Chris came over and introduced himself. We talked for a few minutes and he introduced us to Han Dervish, who would help us with the rest of the transaction. Both of these guys were knowledgable, respectful and friendly. Their showroom was really busy, but we never felt rushed--any questions were answered completely. It's difficult to describe the "feel" or "vibe" you get in a situation, but I definitely felt we were being treated with courtesy and respect at Matt Slap Subaru. Spending a lot of money on a new car can be nerve-wracking, but this was by far the most pleasant dealer experience we've ever had. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner, Eve Slap, briefly, and let her know how impressed we were by our experience. What a difference from how our morning started! This dealership seems to "get" that treating people with honesty and respect is a way to be successful in business. Leave the games to the other dealers--if you value dealing with people who are respectful, fair, and true to their word, Chris Mooney and Han Dervish did that, and then some. Thanks, guys. More
There's not much I can say that is nice about this place. I did buy my Subaru from them, and I love my car, but I am not happy with my experiences with Matt Slap. Like stated before, they try their hardest I did buy my Subaru from them, and I love my car, but I am not happy with my experiences with Matt Slap. Like stated before, they try their hardest to get you to pay the highest possible price. You must do your research and understand what the car you want is really worth and NOT settle for what they tell you its worth! I also, had a difficult time trading in my old Subaru. Matt Slap would not give me what it was worth. I had to do a lot of negotiating before they finally honored my price. Recently, I took my car to get serviced. I specifically stated what services I wanted them to preform and because my mileage was near a “major” service point, they conveniently added a service package to my bill. I was not aware of this added service until my car was done and the bill was presented. When I had my spouse call about the bill, they were told that I was aware of the cost of the service because they told me the price, 3 times. I WAS NEVER TOLD! In the beginning, told them what I wanted them to preform and because I had been there before and had the same services done, assumed my price would be around the same figure. BOY was I wrong! Needless, to say I called them back because they called me a liar to my spouse! Who in sales/customer service does this? Oh yea, Matt Slap. They reimbursed me for some of the services they performed, and also gave me some free services (Yeah, like I’ll EVER go back there!) All I can say is BEWARE. Matt Slap is not the only Subaru dealer in Delaware so shop around!! More
MY purchase went badly because they didn't return my emails and when i finally negotiated a dela in person, they did not honor it when it was time to sign the papers. they said it was a mistake and i wo emails and when i finally negotiated a dela in person, they did not honor it when it was time to sign the papers. they said it was a mistake and i would have to pay more. i think this is an intentional trick they use to cheat buyers. service is no better, i made an apointment just to have a recall taken care of and after missing work to get it done was told that they would have to order the parts and i would have to come back to have it done. there was no apology and i was treated like i was unreasonable for expecting them to have the parts when the recall was the only reason i brought the car in. if there was another subaru dealer any place close, i would never return here. When he completed my paper work the numbers were again different than what we agreed upon.Days later I was left a message by him that a my trade in. When he completed my paper work the numbers were again different than what we agreed upon.Days later I was left a message by him that a mistake had been made on my trade in and that because of his mistake I had to pay a additional $500 dollars to get my new tags. When I called him back he was rude and hung up the phone on me. I called his boss and he has offered my a FREE oil change because of the $500 mistake. Thanks for nothing.I feel that I should not have to be burdened with the ENTIRE cost of Hon's mistake. More
I wanted to express my surprise and delight at the excellent service I received at Matt Slap's Subaru this week. I found "my" car online on your web site. I called Saturday late afternoon and confi excellent service I received at Matt Slap's Subaru this week. I found "my" car online on your web site. I called Saturday late afternoon and confirmed with Tucker that it was still available. I said I'm on my way. I drove 45 min. from Wayne PA to Wilmington DE. Chuck Albright greeted me upon arrival. I told him the one car I was interested in, a 2008 Forester. He pulled it up. I sat in it and asked for the cars history. He printed it out and reviewed it with me. I told him my requirements to make the sale. He met them. I bought the car. It needed the upholstery steam cleaned so he arranged for it to be done Monday morning. Chuck was not there when I arrived Monday but multiple people were so helpful, from the used car manager, to the front desk woman in the service area. Chuck then came in from home on his morning off to make sure everything was OK and to get me the mats he promised to replace. When I pointed out a broken driver door handle, they ordered a new one for installation this Friday. I will tell everyone I know to check with them when buying their next car. Congratulations to their team. They are exceptionally hard workers. Sincerely, Karen Harlin More

Our salesperson lied to us on multiple occasions. At least one time it was about a very serious issue (retrieval of trade in's license plates) that cost us a lot of time and money. Other times it was ab least one time it was about a very serious issue (retrieval of trade in's license plates) that cost us a lot of time and money. Other times it was about pricing, options, and less vital but still important issues that you would not expect a salesperson to lie about. This type of treatment is absolutely unacceptable. More
