I have a Fleet car at the moment, a 2006 Freestyle that’s run beautifully……until yesterday. When I was 3 plus hours from home and the end of the day was approaching, my associate and I limped into the local Ford dealership (Matthews Paoli Ford) with what seemed to be a transmission problem. The vehicle was struggling. We met David Port at the service desk. Yesterday, it was 95 degrees with high humidity. The last thing we needed was a car problem and the last thing David needed was a problem customer near the end of the day. David explained that the service department was backed up with service for transmissions (among a number of other services) and he didn’t know if he could get to it til early next week. I understood and only asked him to “see what he could do and do the best you can” so I could make a decision to wait, rent or stay overnight. An hour and 40 minutes later, he had diagnosed the problem as a throttle housing issue (something electronic), found the part in stock, worked with our Fleet people (ARI), fixed the car, and sent us on our way. And at what I thought was a very reasonable cost. He knew I probably wasn’t going to be a repeat customer for Paoli Ford (I live 150 miles away) and the dealership obviously had a backload of vehicles waiting for service (good for them in this poor economy). All he did was “what he could and the best he could”. I work for a very large company where we strive for this kind of service every day, so I appreciate it when I see it. He did his job perfectly, kept me informed all the way, took the burden off me and onto him and sent me on my way. All I can do is say thank you to him and all of the folks at Matthews Paoli Ford who helped him and to tell them that at least my customer in nearby Wayne, PA (I was visiting a buying group there with 100 or more employees) will know about my excellent experience down that way even if I can't become a regular customer due to the distance.. My Windstar failed a mandatory safety inspection on 2/14 and Ford purchased it providing a rental. Matthews had a newer Freestar with service history. I purchased it and picked it up 2/15. D. Port&J. Mc and Ford purchased it providing a rental. Matthews had a newer Freestar with service history. I purchased it and picked it up 2/15. D. Port&J. McElheney-service J. Koons-sales were outstanding. 11/20/11 - Since purchasing the Freestar I have driven about 18,000 trouble free miles relying on the excellent and prompt services provided by the personnel at Matthews Ford. CD Changer in radioCD unit was jammed. Doug and KT lifted the unit and repaired it all in the space of one hour at a very fair price. Cannot get better service than they provided. Pick up service (thanks Jerry) and very prompt attention at all times. Would recommend Paoli Ford to anyone - service department is excellent, call up and get appointment within a couple of days. Any minor issues (light out) I called in and they fixed it immediately at no charge to me. It seems almost everything apart from actual service, is covered by warranty.
