Good morning Ann Marie. I read your Dealerrater review, and wanted to reach out to you. My name is Tom Talbott, and i have worked with the folks at Patriot Subaru since the day they opened in 2003. I do not work at the store and I do not work for Dealerrater. I have my own company located in Gorham, and provide marketing services and consultation to Patriot, as well as other businesses. Here's why I am contacting you. With social media websites like dealerrater, the customer has a forum, and a voice. You, as the customer have the power to express your feelings and opinions. It is good that these forums exist, because they can help a business become a better business. We’re all human, we make mistakes. Naturally, nobody wants a negative review on their card, a blemish on their record. But we can learn from mistakes. Writing your review certainly brings to our attention the need to look at everything we do, and how we interact with customers. So, for that we thank you and all the people who take the time to write a review. A negative review carries a lot of weight, and when it is posted, it affects many people at the store. Before that happens, we’d like to let you know what we do internally. The parties involved meet with the owner and myself, and we discuss what happened. We talk about what could have been done differently, what the other choices were as far as handling the situation at that moment. We then will write up an action report, and place it in that person’s file. Obviously if there is a continued pattern, other action may be warranted. I sat down with Vinnie Martorano, Brian Beattie/Sales Manager, and Adam Arens/Owner, and listened to the explanation. I would ask for the opportunity to speak with you in person, to let you know that the experience was certainly not one that we want to see repeated. At the heart of the matter here is the comment that you heard Vinnie say regarding the trade or sale of the car: “No problem, they are one in the same”. There was a breakdown in communication, and in hindsight, it would have been better if actual numbers had been put in writing. So right there is a correction that needs to be made. I mentioned that every review has a large impact. Everyone who works at the store is affected if the business reputation is tarnished. However, that doesn’t excuse what occurred on that day, which is why we do take the review seriously with the individuals involved. If you’ve read this far, I thank you! Hi Ann Marie, I believe you made several attempts to call me this afternoon, but I was not in my office. Aside from my business, I coach lacrosse at Gorham High School, and we had practice from 4-6 today. My phone showed "Juliano AM", and you're the only one I know by that name. I do not wish to disturb you in the evening, so I will try the number tomorrow morning. If that proves to be inconvenient, we'll try another time. Tomorrow, our team has a playoff game in the afternoon down at Thornton Academy, so again I'll be out. If we lose - season is over, and then I'll be back on regular schedule.
