Just got back from Penske and wasted 3 hours of my life (5 if you count my commute there and back). I had been approved for a $5K CVAP Electric Vehicle Grant, and Penske was listed as one of the few author (5 if you count my commute there and back). I had been approved for a $5K CVAP Electric Vehicle Grant, and Penske was listed as one of the few authorized dealerships in my area that would process the grant. I reached out to Penske to see if they had any Bolt EUVs in stock and was told the only way to get one was to put a deposit down. I was courted by Rani (salesperson) to put a $1000 deposit on a base Chevy Bolt EUV 2LT. After 3 weeks I received a call from Rani that the car was ready for pickup. We had agreed on the price over the phone (MSRP $28805, No Markup). I had done my research and MF was around .004 & 61% residual for a 36mo/10k mile lease. When I showed up to the dealer, Rani processed my application and confirmed that the MF & Residual was the same as what I had researched. Rani also told me about the $500 Healthcare worker incentive which I already knew about. Once we agreed on the sale price, monthly payment & terms - I brought up that I had a 2020 Chevy Equinox with 15k miles I was looking to sell and that I had done a KBB Instant Cash offer through Penske's website and was quoted $20k and that I wanted to use the equity from that as an additional down payment. Rani asked for my keys & registration and went to confirm the price. After talking to his sales manager JIMMY ABSALEH, he came back and said they were willing to buy it for $18K ($2k less than what KBB Instant Cash was approved for, essentially the remaining residual amount). I said I wasn't interested and that other Chevy dealers had also approved for $20k and that I would just sell to them. JIMMY didnt budge. I then told Rani about my $5K CVAP grant being the reason I chose to purchase through Penske, and Rani said he had not heard of it and would go talk to JIMMY. I mentioned that Penske is clearly listed on CVAPs website as an authorized dealership. Rani came back and said that they are unable to do the CVAP because it would take them 3 weeks to get paid on the car and that they can't wait that long to sell the car. I was furious. Long story short, I walked out and went over to Premier Chevy in Buena Park where they did actually offer the same deal + process my CVAP. WAIST OF TIME. and Jimmy had the xxxxx to say on my way out, "What's your problem?". More
So on 1/26/20, I ended up leasing a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 instead of going with my instinct of purchasing one instead. I traded my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in great condition with aftermark Colorado ZR2 instead of going with my instinct of purchasing one instead. I traded my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in great condition with aftermarket parts and got a decent price for my trade in with left me with extra money in equity to use as a down payment. This is where it went south for me. I talked the sales rep down $38k for the truck and felt it was reasonable. Now, what I didn't catch is that the sales manager used my down payment to fool me as if I talked them down. In addition to that, I was coerced to lease the vehicle. Mind you, my Silverado was $38k with zero down and my payments were $480 a month for 72 months. I was thinking I was getting the similar deal. Nope, I was wrong. I was coerced to believe that the lease was the better option for me which would result in $22k paid over the life of the lease and if I want to buy the truck out right, I'd have to pay $29K! Instead of paying what the remainder should be of $19K. In the past, my wife and I had purchased two vehicles from this dealer with no issues in 2015 and 2016. Its probably because we dealt with honest people at the time. Now due to this experience, my next Chevrolet vehicles will NOT be purchased at this dealer ever again. So much for a loyal customer. I bought my 2017 Silverado truck, I took it in for diagnostic because I concern about the starter. The service Manager name is Faigh told me if I agree to fix the problem than the diagnosis fee will b diagnostic because I concern about the starter. The service Manager name is Faigh told me if I agree to fix the problem than the diagnosis fee will be waived or I will be charged $150. Find out later it wasn’t the starter instead it was the battery. They charged $160 for 5 min works to change the battery out. This is a Riffs off in my book. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER BRING MY TRUCK BACK TO PENSKY CHERVOLET IN CERRITOS CA AGAIN. More
