This is the text of a letter I've sent to SOA about a very bad experience with Phil Meador Subaru: I currently own two STIs, a 2011 and a 2010. I purchased the 2010 back in April and then later on d very bad experience with Phil Meador Subaru: I currently own two STIs, a 2011 and a 2010. I purchased the 2010 back in April and then later on decided I liked the sedan better, trading another car on it. I then put the 2010 up for sale on consignment. It wasn't getting much action at the Chevy dealer in Rexburg where I purchased the 2011, so I called Phil Meador Subaru in Pocatello, ID (about 50 miles south of here) to see if they would be able to put it on consignment on their lot. They had a fairly decent reputation and seem to move a lot of Subarus. I spoke with a rep named Eric on the 19th. He said they would be willing to buy the car from me outright. He took the VIN and did some checking last week, and they offered to buy it for $26,500. That's well below book value but we're anxious to get rid of one of our car payments and stick with the 2011, so we agreed. Eric said they would pick up the car from the dealer in Rexburg, ID (about 25 miles north of here) so I could just drive down there directly from work the next day. On Thursday last week I was on my way down to Pocatello when Eric called me on the road and said I probably shouldn’t come down to Pocatello that day as agreed, they wanted to look at the car more. They said it was not running quite right and needed to look at it some more. I turned around and went back to Idaho Falls. Then a few minutes later Eric called me again and said the deal was off, they didn’t want to buy the car because it wasn’t running right, but they wouldn’t say what was wrong. He offered to let their service shop do a diagnostic on it for a fee, he wasn’t sure what that was and said he’d have their service manager call me with the details. We want to have the car running right one way or the other, so we agreed to that and I waited for the call from their service department. It never came. The next day I was about to call the dealership again to find out about having the service done, but Eric called me first and informed me they had already taken the car back up and dropped it off to the dealership in Rexburg. They did not ask me for my consent. He did not explain why they have apparently refused to help diagnose the problem as discussed the previous day, much less why they backed out on their agreement to purchase the car, and they still would not provide any specifics at all on what the car was supposed to be doing. I had to go up to Rexburg to pick the car up – it ran just fine all the way home, other than a very slight hiss under boost which has the symptoms of a slight boost leak – hardly a difficult problem to address. Besides reneging on their agreement to purchase the car after checking its service history, which was bad enough, I can’t imagine why they would refuse to help a Subaru owner with a vehicle problem even if I had already agreed to pay for the diagnostic – and especially since the car is still under its drivetrain warranty. I am completely shocked that they would take a car a dump it somewhere else without the owner’s permission. I really enjoy both cars but can only keep one of them for now. When it’s time to upgrade again it will be extremely difficult to keep giving Subaru my business when I get treatment like this from the nearby dealerships. You might want to do something about that. This was my second time working with Camron. Why I went back to Camron is because I trusted him. He found the car I wanted and more, and then gave me an honest deal. After I purchased the car he called to answer questions and help with details. I know if I have any problems I can call him and he will do what he can to help. I found everyone I have worked with at Phil Meador helpful and friendly. I felt comfortable and appreciated and plan going there to have my car serviced. I will definetly be going back to Camron next year when it is time to purchase another car. More
We stopped by the dealership on a long day of car shopping. We were met by Camron, who steered us toward the Legacy. I was impressed with Camron's knowledge and genuineness. I was even more impressed when several weeks later I went with the kids to check out the car again (my husband was unable to go). When Camron discussed the car I didn't feel he was "talking down" to me because I was a woman. He treats everyone with respect, as did everyone there. I would highly recommend this dealership. And I love the car!!!! More
I did a web search for the Subaru Impreza Outback Sport and found the one I was looking for at Phil Meador Subaru. I was lucky because they even had the color I wanted. Brent is a great salesman and I thoroughly enjoyed doing business with him. I researched several other places to get the best price for a Subara and the price quoted from Brent was the best. Brent is such a good patient person. he knows when to laugh and listen and causually mention a possibility. we loved our experiences at the shop. we decided to buy just for the reason that brent is a good guy and knows how to make a sale. all the staff at suburu are fantastic, eager to help and always available. thanks for making my husbands buying power easier on him and making my day by gettting the bargains i thought that i wanted. we have given brents name out freely and invited potential buyers to stop by and get acquainted. We will be back in a couple more years to buy again. we bought suburu because it is a good investement and highly recommended. We bought Phil Meador becasue of the Suburu staff. thanks. More
My wife and I visited Phil Meador Subaru recently to purchase a vehicle and were very please with the way we were treated by Brent and the rest of the sales team. We werent able to purchase the exact vehicle we had shown up looking for, however he was able to find us something within our price range that we did like very much. We recently returned to Phil Meador for service work on the mentioned vehicle, and to look for a truck to purchase in the near future, and we did our business with Brent Harland yet again. As always, he as very friendly, helpful, and informative which made my wife and I very happy, and relieved to not get the run around we would usually get from a car dealer where we live. We drove nearly 200 miles to visit this dealer and Brent made it worth every mile. It seemed as if he bent over backwords to help us. I will definitly buy from this dealer again. More

Brent worked real hard to get the payments where we need them, to work within our budget. The end result is a payment we can handle and an interest rate that made all the difference. This is our fourth Subaru and by far Julie and the sales staff went over the top to make sure we were satisfied. My wife and I are pretty picky about were we spend our money.
