I purchased a pre-owned 2018 Honda Pilot from PE Honda in early 2021 with just 32,000 miles on the odometer. Everything seemed fine initially, but by mid-December 2021, I started experiencing troubling sympt early 2021 with just 32,000 miles on the odometer. Everything seemed fine initially, but by mid-December 2021, I started experiencing troubling symptoms. The vehicle would suddenly buck and harshly shift when accelerating between 20-30 mph. On December 18th, 2021, I brought my Pilot to PE Honda's service department. They kept it for an entire week but ultimately claimed they couldn't identify any issues. Since the problem persisted, I returned on December 31st describing the same symptoms, yet again they found "nothing wrong." The transmission problems steadily worsened over the following months. Eventually, I found myself in a ridiculous routine - having to pull over and completely restart the vehicle at least once weekly whenever the bucking became severe. This temporary fix was the only way I could make the car drivable again. By summer 2022, with the vehicle at 52,000 miles, I returned to PE Honda in frustration. After several days of supposed diagnostics, they still claimed no mechanical issues existed but recommended multiple transmission fluid flushes totaling nearly $1,000. This suggestion particularly bothered me because Honda's own maintenance schedule doesn't recommend transmission service until 60,000 miles, and they classified this as routine maintenance, meaning my warranty wouldn't cover any of it. I reluctantly agreed to a partial service, spending about $350. While this improved things temporarily, within a few months the transmission problems returned, and I was back to my weekly roadside restarts. I've since stopped visiting PE Honda entirely as they've demonstrated they either cannot or will not properly diagnose and fix whatever is wrong with my vehicle. When I originally purchased this Pilot, my salesperson Eric V. emphasized Honda's legendary reliability and outstanding customer service. He specifically assured me "Honda takes care of its customers" and that I wasn't just buying a car but "the Honda experience." My actual experience has been completely opposite of these promises. Despite having an active warranty, I'm still dealing with this maddening transmission issue every week. What should have been a dependable family vehicle has instead become a source of constant anxiety and disappointment. I genuinely regret purchasing both the vehicle and warranty from PE Honda, and I've learned an expensive lesson about empty sales promises. More
