The only nice thing about the service department is the lounge and complimentary carwash. Other than that, this place is a complete scam!!! I went in today to have them replace the sway bar bushings on lounge and complimentary carwash. Other than that, this place is a complete scam!!! I went in today to have them replace the sway bar bushings on my '97 LS400. The service advisor asked what the symptoms were and I explained. The service advisor said he would have the technician do a test drive and do a proper "diagnosis." Okay, fine! The service advisor comes back to me two hours later and gives me a whole laundry list of things that he wants me to pay to replace, and informs me of problems that don't exist, such as a cracked timing belt (the timing belt was replaced only 30k miles ago by a Lexus dealership!). They also told me I have a lot of clunking during braking (not true, and I would have noticed). Ironically, he said the technician couldn't even hear the noise I brought the car in for! The total cost to do their "recommended" repairs would've easily been over $3000. I politely declined. I asked them to just replace the sway bar bushings and be done with it! End of the scam, right? Wrong! Another 90 minutes later, and the service advisor tells me the car is finished. Yippee!! I get to the little service counter and he starts explaining to me what they ended up doing. "We're so nice that we saved you some money and just lubed the sway bar bushings." WHAT?! Okay, how much money did they save me? This better be good... They saved me about $34. $34!!!!! I paid $226 to have them spray WD40 on the sway bar bushings!! That, and the noise didn't go away because they did not do what I had asked them to do--replace the sway bar bushings! If you have a Lexus, stay AWAY from this service department. Find an independent mechanic (good honest ones exist that are familiar with these cars). I was disgusted at the number of people they told that their tires were "bald and ready to pop at any moment". Many people fell for it. One guy paid over $750 to have two front tires mounted and balanced. That's race car tire pricing, folks!!! They will never get my business EVER again. Well, maybe the parts department will, because I will be doing all of my repairs MYSELF! More
First visit to a Lexus dealership (Pohanka Lexus of Chantilly) and it will be my last. Salesman was nice but off in left field trying to come up with trade-in values. Pohanka actually gave me Chantilly) and it will be my last. Salesman was nice but off in left field trying to come up with trade-in values. Pohanka actually gave me a trade in value (for my Mercedes) that was $10K less than KBB trade-in value. They also kept referring to my friend accompanying me as my wife. I tried to make it a point and even joked about no ring(s) but I guess they couldn't get the picture. Lastly, they kept praising their dealership and saying they're December sale to remember was like no other but yet gave me a price on a car which was $4K above it's MSRP. Poor experience to say the least. More
I bought my 2004 Lexus LS430 new from this dealership in December, 2003. The service has never been anything less than exemplary. Whether it was a recall when the transmission was replaced or regular warr December, 2003. The service has never been anything less than exemplary. Whether it was a recall when the transmission was replaced or regular warranty service, they were great. As far as I can recall, whenever I asked about bringing the car in for service they said bring it right in. Most regular service was done while I waited. When I had to leave my car I was provided with a clean Lexus loaner for $5. They were always good about calling to keep me informed and to let me know when the car was ready. And, the car was always washed before I picked it up. I've read many complaints about dealer service departments, so I thought I'd let people know about a really good one. And, no, I was not paid to write this, nor do I have any relatives working there. Just a pleasant buying and service experience. My only complaint is that the prices seem a little high. But, it was an expensive car. Most non-warranty service I do myself or have a local mechanic attend to. More
