Service without an appointment on a Saturday in record time! I recently took my Lexus ES300H in for maintenance on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment. My husband was convinced I would be at Pohanka Lex I recently took my Lexus ES300H in for maintenance on a Saturday afternoon without an appointment. My husband was convinced I would be at Pohanka Lexus for at least 4 hours. I was highly doubtful given past experience with Pohanka. I was thrilled to be out in approximately 90 minutes. And waiting for my car at Pohanka is always a treat. Drinks, fruit and snacks provided; charging station for cell phones; TV; and available wi-fi. 90 minutes passed quite quickly! Sometimes you just have to take the Bull by the horns Recently I took my 2015 NX300h with a very strange problem. The monitor completely fogged up after cleaning the inside of my front windshield. I keep my car very clean, so I was really bewildered when my 15 month old car, acted up. At first, I hit a brick wall with the service writer. She told me that it would not be covered by Lexus. I took it home to decide what my course of action would be. So I called the general manager, For a guy who has bought 5 vehicles from the Pohanka dealership, I thought I would get a little bit of extra attention. To my surprise, I was given NO help with the service issue. He referred me to the "Bull", the service manager. I thought I would have to jump up and down and wrestle him to the ground. Let me back up just for a moment. After graduating from James Madison University, many many moons ago, I spent 6 years in a dealership in Alexandria, I did everything from salesperson to the used car manager, so I know what goes on in a dealership and what the service manager can and can not do within reason. I was ready to go to war because the part alone was quoted at $ 3,300. That's right, $ 3,300 plus labor to install the new screen. The car cost more than $50,000 and was only 3 months out of warranty. Boy, was I wrong, Doug Moultrie, the service manager and Shane Tabit, hit it right off since we shared some history about the business. All three of us went out to see my malfunctioning monitor and they said they had never seen a monitor fog up like that. We walked back inside and he told Shane and myself he needed to make a few phone calls and asked me to wait for a few minutes. In about 10 minutes, Shane came out and told me they needed to keep my car, so they gave me a rental car for $5.00 a day and sent m on my way. On Friday a service writer called me up to say come and get your car, it is all done.and that was it. I never saw Doug or Shane to say thank you. So Doug and Shane and everyone else who had something to do with the appeal to lexus to have this covered under warranty. I know this is a exemption and a special case that doesn't happen everyday. I don't know the merits to this case but Doug and Pohanka went over and above their duty to make a unhappy customer a raving fan. Once again, thank you, Rick Clark More
