Porsche Nashua responded

Hello BrianF77, I appreciate you taking the time to rate the service your received at Porsche of Nashua. I do feel the rating is unfair and your comments a bit incomplete. I understand you were trying to minimize your expense for this repair, but you did not pay our technicians to properly diagnose and advise a resolution for this repair. You called and had us order the control unit a "repair shop" told you that it needed. Our service advisors and parts consultants do not diagnose over the phone. Confirming that a certain control unit handles a certain system or feature is NOT a diagnosis. These cars are complex and should be diagnosed by experts. When you came in, you simply asked us to replace a control unit and explicitly did not want to pay us to diagnose it first. To say we suggested the wrong part to be ordered is not the case - this diagnose came from the other "repair shop". My shop foreman started to spend time to diagnose this, at no charge to you, as a goodwill gesture. He then advised you that the car would need to stay to continue this which you refused. We are reluctant to replace parts that someone else has "diagnosed" for this exact reason. We have factory trained Porsche technicians and the latest in diagnostic tools and software. This experience was not a good result for ether of us. If you would like to discuss this with me further, we can make a plan to get your car on the right track. Please feel free to call me directly at 603 578 3750. Best, Larry Bedell Chief Operating Officer Porsche of Nashua

Thank you Larry Bedell for your response... 1) I do agree, I did not pay your technicians to diagnose the issue, but I was told the control unit to purchase by someone on your team, and your Part/Service department had no problem setting up an appointment to replace the part or taking payment. No one suggested for me to have it diagnosed by your team before they would book the service and no one was reluctant to replace the part. 2) I did not explicitly come in and say I do not want to pay your team to diagnose the problem first, this never once came up in conversation. When I got to your dealership the service tech simply stated that I was here to get the Thief Control modular replaced. I purchase the part and set up service a few days before. 3) Your tech did spend a very brief amount of time to diagnose the issue and this was at no change, this occurred when I returned a few minutes after seeing that the issues were not corrected by the new control module. Your tech did suggest I bring the car back an leave it for the day to diagnose the issue, which I would not expect to be free. What I told him is I just spent a little over $1,000 for a part that did not need to be replace, I don't know if I want to spend more money/time as I already spend 3 + hours waiting over 2 days. I was also wasn't to happy about paying for an extra hr of service...as mentioned I was waiting for the vehicle. So really the 15-20 minutes he spend to diagnose really wasn't free, as I should of had an hour credit. 4) I was charge 2 hrs of service time for 1hr of work. Again, when I questioned the bill I was told that is what the job called for 2 hrs. 5) I do want to say I'm impressed with your statement: "This experience was not a good result for ether of us." I did up you a star on each category for that comment....
