Sales Department great...Service Department not so good. I was looking for a Kia Sorento SX. I noticed on car gurus that Pride Hyundai had one. I emailed them first and I was told the car was still available I was looking for a Kia Sorento SX. I noticed on car gurus that Pride Hyundai had one. I emailed them first and I was told the car was still available. I found two others, so Pride Hyundai was my first stop. Roy Silveira Sr. was our salesman. He is a very nice, polite, honest laid back guy. He gave me the keys and let me test drive the car with my son. Negotiations were very low stress, and back and forth only three times with sales manager over the price for my trade in. I picked up the car two days later. They even sent an employee to my home to get the down payment check because I was unable to go back up the next day. After picking up the car I noticed that the radio reception was very poor. The next morning I noticed that the “shark fin” type antenna cover was loose and moisture was getting in there, which I’m sure damaged the electronics. I called Roy on his cellular phone and he advised me to call service and they would fix or replace the antenna. I called service department and spoke to Kassandra. I gave her a very detailed description of the problem. She made an appointment for me the following Monday at 1pm. I arrived at 1pm with my book and a bottle of water. Kassandra checked me in and said it looked like I was there to “check radio.” This after I gave her a detailed description of the problem. I naively expected that the car would be repaired. Wrong! Anthony Fernandes from the service department took it upon himself to tear the “shark fin” type antenna cover off of the roof of my car exposing the electronics even more. Then he has the nerve to make an appointment at a Kia dealership the following Monday at 0900 am, to fix the antenna without ever consulting with me. That following Monday at 0900 am, I was going to be on vacation, and out of state. I then contacted the Kia dealership and they said they would not cover a damaged antenna especially after the service department personnel ripped the cover off. They explained that the broken/damaged antenna was covered by Pride Hyundai’s 90 day warranty, not by Kia just because the vehicle is a Kia. They also said that Tony Fernandes has a history of doing this to them. I then met with Roy Silveira and he was very disappointed that this happened to me. He introduced me to his boss, Rob Kassam. Rob went into service department and had Tony Fernandes order the entire antenna, cover, electronics, etc. Rob assured me that they would expedite the part and “rush” it, so my issue would be resolved asap. After two days of hearing nothing at all I contacted Tony and Rob. They made arraignments for me to drop off the vehicle Thursday morning and they gave me a loaner vehicle. Matt Santos assisted me with the loaner vehicle. He was great. Very professional, helpful and should be running the service department. By Friday morning the part was in Rhode Island and Roy Silveira drove to a Kia dealership there and got the part. I received a call from Wendell Jordan of the service department. He gave me the option of leaving a few hours later for our road trip family vacation, with my repaired Kia, or take their loaner vehicle on vacation. He was very accommodating and understanding. He personally supervised the repair and had it completed asap. For some reason they were a little reluctant to give me a copy of the repair paperwork, but they finally did. Thankfully we were able to leave for our family vacation almost as scheduled, but at least with my new vehicle. The sales experience was very good, but the service department was a very stressful experience with some deception and lots of miscommunication. Fortunately my vehicle is a Kia and I will have it serviced at the Kia dealership near our home. More
