I know a fair amount about car dealerships from the inside as my step-father owned a Chevrolet dealership in California over 30 years ago. I worked there during my late high school years. While that work was mostly in the repair and body shop as the "gopher" and "driver", I also talked to the sales and support staff. Working at his dealership gave me insight into how a good dealership is run. For purposes of the "Important" statement below, and the Terms of use" below that, I have not worked at a dealership in any capacity since 1979. My step-father passed away 16 years ago. I did not inherit any interest in that dealership. I have never worked as a car salesman, service manager or "consultant", auto mechanic of any type, nor any capacity in the parts department. I have never owned any interest in any car dealership or any kind of automotive business. -- My wife and I have gone through buying and selling 8 cars. Some poor, most okay, one or two good. None that I would rate as great or excellent. We've learned to prepare for the trips to the dealerships and have agreed upon signals for "yes", "no" and "lets get out of here!" Recent events have put us in a situation where we can replace one of our two middle aged Volvo's that are over 12 years old and well over 100,000 miles. I've been doing doing the research as it is "my" car that is being replaced. On a weekday afternoon I walked into Ramsey Volvo to gather information about the C30 and S60 models. Brochures, general pricing, warranty, etc. This wasn't a cold entry, we had taken our Volvo's here for service and repairs. I already knew the service department was topnotch. Gary was free so we started talking. Gary is a warm, pleasant and very helpful guy. I soon had my glossy brochures (with Gary's card attached :), some seat time in a C30 and an S60 and some good tidbits of information. To my utter relief, leaving was not like an extraction from behind enemy lines. :) It took a few more visits to focus on what I wanted and buy a C30 from their inventory. My wife and I met Gary's boss and worked with him on the contract and with Tim in the finance department to get through all the required paperwork as quickly and painlessly as possible. The paperwork for buying car is second only to buying a house, which we also know far to well. Never in this process did we feel pressured to "act now" or have a "limited time offer" sprung on us or other ploys to manipulate us. We are very grateful for this. This was by far the most pleasant car buying experience we have had. I know a good part of that is due to Volvo's culture. I also know that it takes dealership management committed to that culture and individuals with the proper attitude and capabilities to make that culture a reality. Ramsey Volvo earned those "5" ratings the right way, by providing a friendly, comfortable and supportive environment for one of life's most stressful events. More

Stan Rosen was professional and knowledgeable about the Volvo product. Answered all my questions without putting presure on me to buy the car. The overall experience in buying a car can be a headache and you can get the complete run around at dealerships. Not here!! They work with you without the head spinning tricks..... The experience was different from other places. No presure, very helpful sales people and the process to do all the paper work went smooth. This is a no presure, no hassel dealership from the time you walk in the door until the time you come to pick up your car. I test drove the car twice and am satified I purchase a Volvo.
