The model all dealership should follow . I have purchased many cars and it seems people are in one of two modes walking into the dealership. Ideally they can be proactive by knowing when . Ideally they can be proactive by knowing when their lease is up or anticipating when they want to trade in a car and gather all of the information they think they need and review multiple products at multiple dealerships. In short, no time pressure. Last Saturday I was in the second group which is because of catastrophic failure or in my case an auto accident I needed to replace a car ASAP. Traditionally this is not a good position to be in. In addition this was an unexpected expenditure for me as well so I was going to look preowned and within a certain budget. I visited two other GM dealerships who used to have their name on a sports arena late Friday and found they had little regard for my needs or budget. Even though I had purchased three other vehicles with them my patronage seem to mean little. Even though I had purchased three other vehicles with them my patronage seemed to mean little. So Saturday morning I took the accident damaged Chevy HHR to The Hendrick Chevy dealership where it was purchased and prepared for another round of the same. At 9:15 AM I was greeted by your receptionist and she quickly connected me with Garvinn Charley’s of the sales team. I explain the situation and what I was looking for which was a preowned vehicle I intended to keep for 4 to 5 years but needed to hit a certain monthly payment as well as total price. He wrote down the information, we looked through the inventory on the tablet and within five minutes had six cars that seem to fit the bill. As we walked into the lot I was expecting what the other GM dealers did which was spent more time pointing out higher-priced options and disparaging the lower-priced options. As we walk through the lot I was pleasantly surprised that Garvin took that opportunity to explore and help me define my needs by pointing out different vehicles in terms of size and type and number of doors etc. and based on that we zeroed in on the ones that made the most sense. He knew the prices and brief history of every car I pointed out and I only use the tablet to look at the Carfax reports. In the end I found a car that met all of my needs And I have a picture of Garvin’s business card in my contacts I will pass along to anyone looking for a new Chevy or anything preowned. So your sales team found me the right product in the right price range and now it was time for Robert SpitzNagle and his team to help out. As I said this was an unplanned expenditure and with two kids going to college in less than a week and going through a divorce your finance team could’ve easily written me off but instead we found a solution and now I can’t keep my girls out of my BMW 3 Series and I find myself driving the Germaine Toyota leased last year. In summary, professional sales team that listens to the customer, a finance team that understands life doesn’t allow all of us to have a 750 credit score and a management team that checked in along the way to make sure the process flowed correctly. Well done. Oh, and your team called me Monday to let me know I left a pair of glasses in the glove box and they were waiting for me with the receptionist. That is impressive follow up. The only suggestion I have and it may be because of logistics or cost is the fact that on the preowned side given the number of dealerships you have I could’ve named almost anything and you would’ve had it in stock somewhere. If you can indeed ship cars in like a Carfax does it may be a competitive advantage over other dealers in Naples. More
