Great car buying experience (yes, really!) We walked on to the lot with a hefty dose of hesitation based on our prior experience buying a Toyota back in NY... it was awful. We walked into the Rick McGill showroom and a salesperson walked by; must have seen our hard and stony faces and decided he was up for a challenge that night lol because he went and put down the coffee he had just gotten and came over to greet us. He introduced himself as Doug and asked what he could do for us. Well, the dams burst and we unloaded on him our prior experience and how we had a lease that we were just about done with and we didn’t really know what our plans were except that we wanted something smaller, reliable and more economical because we would eventually be handing it over to our daughter in a year or two and oh yeah, did we mention we had an atrocious experience with Toyota in NY and weren’t even sure why we were bothering with trying Toyota again. He didn’t even flinch at our rudeness! He simply said “I understand. I do things a little different, have a bit of a different approach. What would you like to look at first?”. We hesitantly followed him into a golf cart like a couple of scared puppies... and from there, I don’t think we stopped laughing all night! Doug made us feel SO comfortable with his keen ability to match our sense of humor. He never once tried to show us anything beyond what we told him we wanted. No pressure, but plenty of answers. We found a perfect little Corolla hatchback that would be perfect for my daughter when she starts driving in a year or two. Pretty sure he knew it would be perfect for us even before we did, haha, since he stopped the golf cart right in front of it. Not too fancy, not too expensive. The entire deal was pleasant—entertaining, even!—, from sales to finance (Tim). Have not yet had occasion to use their service department so I can’t comment on that yet. If you are in the market for a Toyota, I would definitely and highly recommend seeing Doug first. Thank you for everything, Doug! You soothed these two scared and scarred buyers and helped get us into just what we needed for now. We will be back! More
