I took my 4runner in for service after the rear seat belt jammed and could not be used after a friend rode in the back seat. Probably the first or second time anyone has used that seat since I bought my 4run jammed and could not be used after a friend rode in the back seat. Probably the first or second time anyone has used that seat since I bought my 4runner new. Vehicle has 32,000 miles, purchased summer 2017. Matt Rich, the assistant service manager, told me with parts and labor (one bolt) the repair would be over $250. I told him it was a warranty item. He said that it was out of warranty, I said the seat belt was not. He began checking his book and said even if it is under warranty the dog hair in my back seat would be considered “outside influence” or maybe he would find a coin in it? A coin, are you kidding me? He finished flipping the pages and said it was not under warranty anyways. After the dog hair / coin comment I decided I didn’t want to leave my vehicle with the Right Toyota service department anyways and left. It was clear they would try to get out of warranty work where they could. After getting home, sure enough restraint systems are 60 months / 60,000 miles which my vehicle was under. And if dog hair in the back seat is enough to damage that seat belt I’m scared for Toyota owners with kids and dogs which seems very common. More

Moral at dealership is very low. People walking around just going thru the motions. No smiles anywhere.. service department communications are non-existent.
