Riverhead Bay Subaru responded

Guidry78, We here at Riverhead Bay Subaru are deeply saddened to hear that your recent experience with our service department was anything less than spectacular. Being the only dealer in the Tri-State area to receive Subaru's coveted Stellar Care Award for outstanding customer service three years running, hopefully you can understand how a review like this is a bit alarming. Without the proper information (about you) it is also very hard for us to look into and resolve your plight. What I can do is give you some insight on how we treat every client that comes through our doors. To start, as an average we see brakes being replaced every 30-50 thousand miles depending on driving conditions. Based on your review the "other" dealer said you can go another 3-6 thousand miles before needing to be replaced. Based on those numbers its safe to say that your front brakes were past the 50% mark when you were here. Given that your safety is a paramount concern, we absolutely understand one of our service writers recommending this being done. Why? We would rather recommend a service being done ahead of time, rather than something happening after it is too late. In terms of the pricing issue, there are many variables that can contribute to our price being $50 more on this service. Many dealers tend to cut rotors rather than replace them. This is a cheaper alternative but could cause problems down the line. If the rotor is cut too thin the rotor can heat up too easily and eventually become warped causing a pulsation and improper wear on the pads and wind up being more money out of your pocket. Also, we use Genuine Subaru Parts on every Subaru we work on, we have seen in the past many dealers using third party replacement parts to keep competitive pricing. Third party parts are rarely held to the same quality standards that Subaru sets. Hopefully this clarifies some of your concerns and hopefully you will find a way to come back to us.
