Pleasant experience I would recommend working with Paul Falciglia. He is not your average salesman. Worst car buying experience I ever had in my life! The ONLY reason I purchased through Route 1 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Lawrenceville, NJ is because, it was the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude that The ONLY reason I purchased through Route 1 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Lawrenceville, NJ is because, it was the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude that I searched for & wanted, minus the sunroof. The mileage was only 8,400 miles which was my deciding factor. My car buying experience with Route 1 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Lawrenceville, NJ was the worst, most uncomfortable experience I ever had in my lifetime. The employees that I came across seemed to care less whether they earned my business or not. They came off as condescending & dishonest. There were loopholes in the information they provided. Three of the main things that really disturbed me when making the purchase through Route 1 was their $995 "Prep Fee"(which Kelvin reduced to $495) . No other dealership that I visited had this fee or even heard of such a fee. After the lender of my credit union requested & reviewed the buyers order from Route 1, he called it a bogus fee. Kelvin, my salesman explained to me what the "prep fee" entailed. After learning what the "prep fee" was, I fully agreed that it seems like a bogus fee considering my 2018 Jeep only had 8,400 miles and only had a oil change and tire rotation. I requested all the service orders for my Jeep through Route 1 at the request of my credit union, to verify that was all the services done to the Jeep I purchased. Kelvin explained what the "Prep Fee" is. I copied and pasted his words from a text message. "The prep fee is used for new tires, new windshields, seat repairs and other damage or wear items like brake pads and the like. We sell a good amount of our pre-owned vehicles without floor mats or spare keys. When they price the vehicle they take into account those kind of missing items and reduce the price accordingly. ".After I questioned, Kelvin went on to say "I'm not saying your Jeep needed brake pads or a seat repair. We add that to the cost of every pre-owned vehicle because some require more work than others." Kelvin went on to say "I'm sure your Jeep didn't need a lot of work because of the mileage but everyone pays the prep fee which is normally $995 but we discounted it for you in hopes of earning your business because you traveled a good distance two days in a row. ". On top of this "prep fee" that they charged me, they taxed me on it and made it part of the total price of the vehicle on the buyers order, stating there was no single line on the paperwork that they could separate the "prep fee" like they separated the taxes, the doc fee and the MV's fee. The second thing that really bothered me about my purchase was, Kelvin made a big deal over my requesting floor matts & a second key. The other dealers that I visited when I asked if I could have floor matts & a second key, they said of course they would provide for me, there was never any question. As I narrowed down where I was going to purchase my 2018 Jeep, Burns Honda had the same exact Jeep that I purchased, only it had 25,000 miles but it did have a sunroof. The Jeep I purchased had running boards installed, as well as rain guards. The 25,000 miles was an issue for me at Burns Honda however they were going to offer me 120,000 mile powertrain warranty, as well as a 72,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty at no additional cost to me. Route 1 was only willing to provide the remainder of the warranty, unless I chose to pay for more warranty at my expense. Route 1 was not willing to negotiate. Their price, was their price and that was it. The only thing I got thrown in was a coffee & 1/2 of bagel. Kelvin even went as far to show me an invoice for the car matts, 2nd key and programming for the key that I asked for. Despite me asking Kelvin to waive the bogus $495 "Prep Fee" and after my request for Kelvin to speak to his manager, Andrew, Kel in came back in one minute flat as I watched and said No, they won't waive the $495 "Prep Fee" Anyway, needless to say, I did purchase through Route 1 and so far, I am completely happy with my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, but I can tell you, I will certainly never go back to Route 1 to make a purchase or look for another car again & I definitely do not recommend Route 1. Lucas Jeep is an excellent dealer, that is where I have purchased my accessories and will be going for my service and future car buying, as well as Burns Honda used car dealer was excellent as well. Very nice sales people at Burns and they want to earn your business. I do want to add that speaking to Don over the phone many times was a pleasure to speak with. He was the only employee that I really felt cared if a sale went through with me or not. Thanks Don!! More
