My recent visit to Salinas Honda was not pleasant what-so-ever. I made an appointment and have no idea why, an appointment was even required. An oil change for a 2023 Honda Ridgeline typically ta what-so-ever. I made an appointment and have no idea why, an appointment was even required. An oil change for a 2023 Honda Ridgeline typically takes 30 to 45 minutes at a dealership. I timed mine. Total time: 1 hour, 36 minutes and 45 seconds. That is from signing the form, walking away and finally standing and waiting to pay. Again, I made an appointment and have no idea why, an appointment was even required. Lack of staffing? Over booking? Someone call in sick? Company policy? I'm sure you have a reason. Maria, the cashier, was not pleasant. She said the cost would be $74.06. I started to hand her my credit card. She finally said "there is a 3% service charge for the use of a credit card". When I said I would pay by a debit card, she developed a REAL attitude like I had caused her hours of additional unpaid work. While I understand the fee costs for credit card processing, 3% is excessive. In my opinion and the opinion of many others, any credit card processing costs should be included in the company's cost of doing business, not an "additional penalty" for using a means of payment. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment. I walked inside and was "checked in". I was then instructed by this person to wait in another line. So far, two lines just to show up. My turn came up and a service writer said "please come up". I did. After maybe 15 seconds, another lady in line was asked by the service writer attending me to come forward and I was asked to go back in line. Seriously? So another service writer helped me. I went to sit down in the waiting area. 10 minutes later another customer came in, sat down, got comfortable. About 30 seconds later the "check-in" guy walked in and said to him "you're not finished yet, you need to see a service writer to get your invoice set up". Apparently I was not the only one confused and inconvenienced by the two-step check-in process. It's like standing in line at McDonalds. One line for a burger. Another line for fries. Another line for a drink. And another to pay. I wanted a cup of coffee. But there were no cups to be found. I could have asked. I should not have too. The music in the front section (where I was sitting) was very loud and obnoxious, I could not read. Could not hear myself think. When I originally sat down, maybe 5 minutes in.....I got an annoying and intrusive and unwanted "TEXT" from someone at the dealership wanting to "buy my 2023 Honda Ridgeline". Seriously? I simply blocked the number. That is NOT a friendly sales tactic. It was offensive. Might ask the customer if they want this option. ZERO explanation for any of the items in the deal provided Automobile Status Report. The price was fair with the coupon. I'm sorry but you asked. More
I came to Salinas Honda because the service dept was outstanding. When other dealers were price gouging on service work, they would give me trusted and valued input to what work really needed to be don outstanding. When other dealers were price gouging on service work, they would give me trusted and valued input to what work really needed to be done and at an affordable cost. Unfortunately, your service department now seems to have joined the empty the customers bank account band wagon. Was quoted $1,200 for a repair that required a $45 dollar part and removal of 6 bolts. Took me 10 mins to do the work. This is unacceptable, will never return to your Dealership. More
